YEah, likewise I also am completely for it, and especially would love to see a create-a-team feature back in there, but also if it takes time away from improving the actual game (which it will without a doubt) then id prefer gameplay improvements for 2004, and the extra games to be put in for 2005. I think EA really do need a good year or so to really get the gameplay up to where it should be, and i think that putting time into implementing these features would definately take a big bite into the time they have for gameplay improvements. I definately would like to see these things put in, but without adoubt gameplay comes first above all other things including graphics by my opinion. Id rather see the current graphics engine stay with little to no improvement, and just some slight tweaks to gameplay (fewer blocks, more realistic blocks, more controlled fastbreaks and FG percentages) then technical improvements and the same game in the centre. As i nmentinoed b4, i would love to se the current system kept exactly as is and put in as arcade mode, and a modified more realistic engine put in for simulation mode. This means that EA can cater for a much wider audience and everyone will ove the game. I dont think these chnages would take a huge amount of time to impliment for them, BUT i think the major issue is the franchise mode, and i think that EA really need to create a new simulation engine from scratch as opposed to little enhancements. since franchise mode came in llive 2001, i fail to see any huge changes in the stat simulation or features..i really think a new ratings and stats engine needs to be made. For the gameplay, they can probably just tone down the amount of fastbreaks / blocked shots / steals /FG%. I'm sure that wouldnt be too hard. Maybe they could use a slider which could have arcade on the left and simulation on right, and as u slide it more to the right, the speed, shotblocking and steals reduce toa more realistic level. If they can get al of these game-related features in the game, then by all means i would love to see any spare time put into designing some extra games such as 3 point, dunk contests. I think a rookie game would be easy to impliment ad it would basically work just like a second all-star game but only rookies would be allowed to participate. I think this would take practically no time for EA to inplement. At the very simplest they could create 2 teams of 15 rookies, totalling with the 30 rookies with the highest ratings. Otherwise they could have the 12 most productive rookies, and the 12 most productive 1 year stars and have a rookie vs sophomores game. that would probably be more complicated but im sure it wouldnt be hard. Maybe the 3 or so days coudl jsut be all star weekend, and when u get there it can just coem up "would you like to participate in all star weekend? Yes/no" and u just clock no to keep simulating, and yes to go to a seperate schedule with all star game, rookie game, dunk comp, 3 pt comp, etc. maybe even a 2 on 2 game to be similar to 2-ball, and the 2 best rated players of each team could be put in, or the 2 players with the highest FG and shooting range ratings. Once completed it could say "All star weekend completed, would you like to return to the regular season?" then u choose no to stay and look at stats, dunk contest winners, etc, or yes to go back to the regular season schedule. This all may take alot of time, and if they cant do it all for next years game i think they should work on the gamplay fixes as first priority, and add these features next year. Quite honestly, the only reason why 2k3 and inside drive sold on consoles was because they had a better realism factor and better franchise / simulation engines then live, so i think this would suggest that gettign these areas up to the standard of the competition would make the majority of gamers extremely happy and probably sell more games, while including little extra games probably wont change the decisions of gamers who bought the other games. They will still go there for a better sim / better realism. By workign on gameplay primarily EA can get every gamer happy, and that way still have soemthing new to add for 2004 when it comes along. I can all but guarantee it will sel lmore games for them, and while people would probably be happy to wait an extra year for these little extrta features, they probably wont be hapy to wait 2 years for EA to improve the game itself.
