It depends...
The easiest way is to download EAGraph and open the file caled xplrcmn.viv (in the Render folder).
Then you go to shoes.fsh and then the old Shox VC III's (sha8 and sha9) and chose import to them and chose the new ones.
Does it work for ya?

Yea you can ad shoes there, but then you need to give players the shoes through .DBF edeting.
A better way is if you use Customart. Are you?

yea i sometimes use customart
so i get it now you can add shoes to the xplrcmn.viv but you have to turn on customart is that correct?
how come the patch i added don't go in the shoe.fsh folder they went into the xplrcmn.viv folder instead? hows that?

What patch are you talking about?

Anyways, the simplest way to get shoes to a sertain player is to create a folder for them in the xplayer foler.
If you don't have one already, go to the NBA LIVE 2004/Render/-folder. Then create a folder named xplayer. Then go into that folder...
There you should create another folder that is named after the player. The folder have to be named like the players ID. The ID consist of the first names 2 first letters (Kobe = Ko) and the five first letters in their second name (Bryant = Bryan).
In that folder you place the shoe .fsh's. Like the bsho.fsh and those.

This may sound hard but it's very easy realy...

To add it to the shoe.fsh you have to open a shoe(find the shox VC 3 if thats what your looking for.) They aren't named according to their real name but some 4 letters. Then open the .fsh and import an existing image over it. Save and leave. Then they should be in the game.

WARNING!!! If you run danets 2x shoe patch after doing so they will be overwritten by the official file.

To add shoes to the game by custom art(after doing what dahl said)
Open a picture in EA Graphics Editor
Then save it to a folder as:
bsho => the player will where this same shoe all of the time with every jersey
bsho_home =>He will wear this shoe with his home jersey
bsho_away =>He will wear this shoe with his away jersey

You can have more than 1 file in the players folder. You can have all of those in there and still see all of them.

I know you can add classic shoes but I don't.
