Why does the off-ball switch take a moment to engage?

When I press the off-ball switch button (I love that thing) it always takes a moment before the icons appear, and thus there is a moment where I can't do the switch. If, say, I try to switch to the SG from the PG, I'll end-up accidentally shooting the ball if I don't wait long enough. Why can't it work like the DirectPass button? I've messed-up many possessions and missed many opportunities because of this.

Does it happen to everyone?

Obeyguy, u use Thrustmaster Dual Wireless or something like that? I have the same gamepad and the same issues as u (online as well), the reason is our crap scrap gamepads, i also have an older logitech dual analogue, but it only has 8 buttons and is all mashed up, but, if i use it i never have any problems. Its a bitch cos i got big hands and i always break pads, the thrustmaster design is beefy and robust and i have not managed to really break it yet.

Mine is wireless but the pad is the same.

No, it does the same on PS2. I would have to agree with Mikki, its for safety in case you press it accidentally.

To heck with "safety"! It still brings-up the icons, but there's a delay. I fail to see the point in the delay, so I'm still annoyed. Wiggle, though, you're right about the controller, I have a Thrustmaster (I take it you've seen my other thread).

Yeah i saw it. Its a shame cos i really like its size and its very hard wearing. It does some mad shit with games though, with Live04(offline) it will continue moving a player in 1 direction regardless of what i do, online it will go into 'Crapgamepadthatcostmecashandisabouttogetsmashedintoamillionbits' mode, whenever i call a play i get a connection error(WTF ) i dont know why it starts or even why it stops, but i do know there is nothing more annoying!
