Basically its on your knowledge of the players, because you can't use percentages because some players take more difficult shots, and some players like centers that don't play much take mostly layups and dunk. Also some players a more of slashers and mid-close range shooter (Andre Miller) etc.

Just compare them with other players, look at THEIR FG and 3PT rating and give the created player the appropriate rating!

I agree about the FG rating but there might be some hope of estimating a 3PT rating from the % alone.

3pt = (3pt / (3ptA + 10)) * 222

Do you think this would be compatible with the listed ratings? The potential problem is that it could overrate shooters who hit 3's well only because they're open so often and underrate those who shoot many 3's despite being guarded.

Where do you get the 10 and 222? I like the idea of the 10 if not the value because it essentially disappears for guys who shoot a lot of them.

Fish23 has the following 3pt formula:

3Pts = 3pt% / .47 [multiply the result by 100 to get the rating]

I looked for a way for it to handle players with good % but very few attempts and came up with my equation. The 10 is experimental, I might change it later to make things fit better. The 222 makes the resulting rating reasonably close to that of fish23's for regular 3-pt shooters.
