Prohop is to effective :(

Postby Jou2maz on Sat Feb 14, 2004 7:45 pm

Has someone come up with a solution to the "too effective prohop"-problem?
Don't get me wrong! I don't mean that the computer uses it too much, not at all. The computer just isn't much of a challenge, because I can always use the pro hop to score very easy points :( Whenever I want to, I can score -> THE PRO HOP IS TOO EFFECTIVE. So my question is: How can I make it less effective? Is there some slider which controls it's effectivity? I tried some tweaking= nothing seems to help. Freestyle or whatever tried it 0; no use. But if someone knows something about data editing which would help or tweaking universal attributes, I would be happy to receive any form of help.
It would be sad to have to stop using prohop just because it's to effective :D god damn can't these EA dudes make a fucking realistic game. Doesn't seem to be easy :) I remember Konamis NBA game from 99 (in the Zone) = sucky graphics and very clumsy, BUT it had a very slow gamepace, plus a utterly realistifc(ish) scoring sequence. It's only problem was to easy dunking -> ruined the game. I would dunk 360's with travis best xD
Any help conserning nba live 2004 prohop problem don't hesitate to contact me here, or at my email/MSN.

Turn the CPU's "defense" slider up!! It'll be harder to get in a good position to pull off the "Bunny-Hop"...

Turning CPU on-ball defense will help.

That, and don't use it so often. Restrict yourself to once every other play or something (and if it doesn't work, you can't use it for the rest of the play)...

This is a big problem playing online. I wish the official patch would address it, but I seriously doubt it will.

My partial solution was to turn up cpu layup/dunk block very high, between 70-95. With this setting, you're still able to pro-hop, but the cpu becomes more effective at closing in on your man. So, although you may blow past your defender initially, the cpu recovers alot quicker or sends help quickly to hinder your shot or dunk, which is realistic. This should dissuade you from always using that pro-hop! THe other thing to try is increase the cpu's response to fakes. Mine's set to 85-90. Seems to help the game. Eventually, as other has suggested, you can increase the cpu defense. Mines's currently set to 49 due to excessive bumping, but you can go beyond that for better results if you don't mind the bumping.

A combination of the above should mitigate the problem! Let us know how it works out.

Turn the layup percentage for u and ur opponent to around 20-30, u should have 20 while the computer is 25-30, but then up the mid range jump shooting. This gives u a more realistic game, since contested layups go in less, like the real nba, now u can't just pro hop and layup for an easy score, u will miss a lot more, if that doesn't work, lower it even more
