resigning own player question

Postby Mikelaker on Sun Jan 04, 2004 7:02 pm

Hi there,

I am playing my first dynasty season with lakers... now at west conf finals... didn't simulate any games and that's why so slow compared with you guys on 5th, 8th , 11th season...

As u know Kobe is going to be a 'free agent' after this season and I m eager to sign him back.... at the 'GM' screen thing I was told I have got only NEGATIVE 2xx,xxx points remaining.... my questions are:

1. will I be NOT allowed to sign him back with this negative point remaining? Need I release players to gain some points now?

2. am I going to give Kobe MORE points for signing him back then?

Pls advise me as I don't wanna lose him after finishing my playoff... Thanks!

1. You will be allowed to re-sign him, as long as it doesn't completely put you over the negative point cap limit (which i believe is 25,xxx,xxx, don't hold me too that # though.) You will only need to release players if he wants more then what takes you up to the cap.

2. Kobe will most likely also raise his price as he is still relatively in his prime, and is a superstar. Expect a pay-raise from what you're giving him now to occur.

I thought that in live you can resign your players even if you are already over the cap limit, the only thing to stop you could be roster space which shudnt be a factor cos you resign before the draft and wether the player wants to resign.

You can resign your own free agents for how ever much you want to. If Kobe wants the max deal, and let's just pretend your 500,000 points over the limit, you can still resign him to max deal. But you can only sign other team's FA's to the min.

1. You can re-sign him, as long as he accepts your offer.
2. You'll probably have to give him a larger contract. Since you're a long way over the cap, you can't really go after any other stars, so this shouldn't matter.
