Postby WombyMan on Thu Dec 25, 2003 9:46 am

Hi there,
I'm sorry if it has already been asked, but i didn't find anything...

my Question is: how to make a hook shot?

i tried several times and sometimes i did it, but i did not remember how i did it...

please tell me, cuz the CPU always makes those unblockable shots...

thx,

post your guy up..i think with the L1 button and then when you're close enough to make a shoot hit circle while still holding L1.

To Make a Hook Shot

Postby AllanNYK20 on Thu Dec 25, 2003 4:25 pm

WombyMan:

This is how I make a baby hook:

Back up your defender with the backup button

When close to the hoop, hold the backup button and press shoot.

*I find it easier to make the shot if you take a step spinning in (or out) before you shoot the hook.

I've made many hook shots with my players in NBA Live 2003. Usually, for me, it comes by chance, but it happend more often when there are around 1-2 players garding my man, and my players is turned the opposite side of the basket. In addition, I seem to get more hook shots when I am standing at strange angles, and places where the strong D players are. I'm not too sure about NBA Live 2004, but I would imagine it is fairly similar (I just ordered Live 2004 on the 31st, should be here tomorrow or Tuesday).

Don't get your hopes up.

The first time I played 2004, I absolutely hated it. The animations, player movement, and back to defender problems were terrible. I guess I got used to it. I can't go back to 2003 anymore because the offense was too wild and unstoppable.

But if you want to get your blood to boil, try practice mode. See if the player ever faces the other basket. The idiot dribbles backwards!!!??? Makes him look like a stupid crab on ice-skates. Whatever happened to guys dribbling from the wings to the top of the arc? Or around picks? Huge bug in the game.

Huge bug in the game.

I know I'm nitpicking, but I see it a lot every year, so I feel I must clarify. It's not a bug if that's the way EA intended it. I apologise for nitpicking and seeming to single you out, but we do throw the word "bug" around a lot. If a feature isn't designed a certain way, it isn't a bug.

Point taken. How's the word "design flaw" if we're into semantics? I actually prefer "Just plain s*cks."
