I don't see anything in the manual about importing the rookies to NBA Live, so I know nothing about how it works yet. I gave most of the star players and top ranked teams names, and I created a few players on the college teams.
I am gonna probably play a whole season, or maybe simulate, and when I finish and import to NBA Live I'll tell u how it works.

I think at the end of the season a prompt comes up asking if you want to save the draft class. Then at the end of your live season, a prompt asks if you want to import the draft class.
