DBF Editing Guides

Postby Andrew on Fri Dec 05, 2003 4:41 pm

The DBF Editing Guides have been posted in the NBA Live 2004 section, however there are still some values that remain unknown. If you have any corrections, questions or contributions, please email me or make use of this thread. :)

I think shoelimit is if a player is signed with a particular company.
Say, some players are only allowed to wear nike shoes and so on..

Andrew, can you explain what PLAYRVALUE field is used for?
Why this name shouldn't be changed?

The colour codes are different, since accessories now use the "COL" fields to determine their colour. I have a feeling 54 is the code for automatic colour headbands.

If I remember correctly, it is related to the player ratings. It changes depending on changes that are made to the player's ratings through the in-game editor.

Andrew what about the sock color? changing the color to 0,1,2 doesnt changes the sock color, it always apears to be the automatic color, which is white for home games and black for away games. BTW is there any way to change the teams salaries? I am working on a Greek League patch and some teams always got a bigger budget that others, this will make my roster patch much more realistic for season/dynasty modes. BTW no2 is there a minimum number of teams that has to be taking part to the league so the season/dynasty mode doesnt crash?
Thnx in advance! :D

Yes, that sock colour code is wrong. I was working from the Live 2003 DBF guides and left the values in there. My mistake.

You can change individual player salaries by editing the SALARY field. You can edit the salary cap by editing salary.ini, which is located in the felogic folder in the main game directory.

I'm not sure if there's a minimum number of teams that have to be used in Dynasty Mode to avoid a crash.

I'll update the players.dbf guide re: SHOELIMIT, giving chipper credit. (Y)

Changes are automatically saved in DB Commander, when you move to a new field. When working with dbf files, I suggest saving your rosters and editing the files in the appropriate save slot.

is there a way to toggle the sock color for a team? does the sock field from players.dbf work? just doesn't seem right when a team plays with white shoes and has black socks on.

also, shoelimit is 1 for nike, 2 for adidas, 3 for reebok, 4 for and1 (i think) & 0 for no shoe contract.

I'm still unsure of the values, so I can't really advise you at this time. I'm going to have to go through the DBF again.

Andrew,
just a few questions:

-are the score areas in the dbf guide correct?
-have you figured out how to get the nicknames to work with patched players?
-and how do you figure out how a player will average points and other stats now that the dstats are gone?

thanks in advance

1. Yes, SCOREAREA has been updated for NBA Live 2004
2. You can assign existing nicknames by looking up their ID in nicknames.dbf. There are some leftover nicknames for players from the 90s - "Mr Clutch" is also in there.
3. I believe it's based entirely on ratings now.

i've tried doing that but all I get is the commentary calling out the numbers not nicknames. nicknames seem to work only with created players not patched players. :?

in headacc.dbf the 54 is hb00(white,not NBA logo) :)
and i have a question,is anyone can unlock NBA Headband 13
(xplrcmn.viv-->plrcmn.fsh-->hb12)

Those are text nicknames only. The nickname you choose will be displayed in View Player, but will not be used by Marv and Mike.

When you make a trade the salaries have to be within this amount.

Isn't "Ice" one of the nicknames you can give a created player?

thats what i'm saying, its an audio nickname but when i patch the player which requires changing iscreated to false so the patch is recognized the audio nickname isn't used anymore (marv just says number 9).

this is the problem that i've been trying to get at all along...any suggestions?

No suggestions at this time, sorry. With created players, you usually have to decide between a face patch or audio nicknames.

The SCOREAREA values are basically the style of play. I have made an error in the guide though - 2 (Elgin Baylor) is a style of play for forwards, not guards.
