facts how to patch 2k4 save?

hi,
already read other threads and still havent found a solution for the patching probs.
i just wanted to start installing patches yesterday but stopped when reading the readme´s, cause of the customart prob.
whats goin on exactly?
one patcher told something about ea´s old way to structure the prog like in 2001 or so, but still possible to patch.
but some patches are for enabling customart while some aint. i´m confused.
patching 2k3 was simple, i hope to find a way (with your help) to patch this 2k4 stuff.
gimme facts about customart, what is better.
or links to sites/threads with manuals.

We'd all love to be using customart to install our patches with live04, but when having the customart feature enabled, the game randomly crashes, so it has to stay off.

Which is an absolute Bitch! WTF EA?

However, (it may have been my readme you were reading) we can still patch for live04 using another method of installation like we did before live03. and that's by replacing the actual game files, this is pretty unsafe at times, but if you want a patched up game, then i would take the risk. You can just back up the files anyway, so its not that bad, but live03's customart feature would have been VERY handy in live04 had it worked.

I doubt there's any way you could fix it. There are no manuals about it. Nor links.

this really sux. i was thinkin bout reasons for ea making that customart stuff so difficult...
imho 2k4 is the best in that series ( and i had them all except 99 and 97 (was there a nba97??)) when it comes to gameplay, but the cyberfaces are so ugly, it would be just perfect if players, courts and stuff look good.
so go to hell ea for your patching acceptance, got to hell for your online gaming rules!
i bought it anyway......
