About dunk's

Postby GoranG 2004 on Sat Nov 22, 2003 6:42 am

I have one question for you all.Did you ever dunk the ,,regular'' windmill i can only dunk 360+mill.If you have dunked it please post some screenshots for me.I am realy disapointed becouse this year there are less dunk styles than in NBA Live 2003.So,my question is : ,,Is windmill dunk included in the NBA Live 2004?,,I tried to dunk it with VC,LeBron,T-Mac,Dr J but with no succes.

I read somewhere that the windmill dunk is not included, but I think soembody reported that it's only possible in practice mode.

I don't think the windmill is in NBA Live 2004. I took Nique into practice mode and made him throw down a few spectacular dunks, but the regular windmill never showed up.

Many players does that "backboard-slap"-dunk... including MJ and Dr.J

I love the dunks in 2004. The only ones I don't realy like is the ones they kept from 2003. Other then that, they'r all great :D

you got to come from the side... then just dunk, sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't. verry simple realy
there's the other one to, the two-handed backboard-slap. it looks kinda cool when seeing it ingame, but if you check in replay, it looks like the player just hit his throat on the rim. it's realy ugly

I love the dunks in Live 2004. You may remember in the Live 2004 Wishlists somewhere that I asked for realistic dunks to be in the game, no more of this hocus pocus crap over a whole friggin team.

Its not off the backboard. Its off the rim. Anyway press the dunk/layup button from about 20 feet. He'll shoot a floater that will probably miss. Just get to it and jump to tipslam it in.

realistic

Postby ovasuen on Wed Dec 10, 2003 1:55 am

How can u guys talk about being happy about this "new realistic" dunks and blame former "hocus pocus" ones. A windmill isnt unrealistic. Man, they even do dunks through the legs in game. But its right, there have to be some realistic dunks. But if they really tried to do it more realistic why did they keep the 360 windmill, which is really most unrealistic, because only vince did it and that was at the slam dunk competition. It's really sad to see a more or less hard earned fast-break end with a simple two handed rim shaker. Those type of dunks look good if they happen under some sort of pressure, but if ur all alone with the basket u wish some sort highlight as they do in the real game, e.g. the windmill.

.
    1. they can't program the game to feel where all the other players are... and then adjust the dunks after it.
at least i don't think so...

    2. i've only seen a player do a through-the-legs once (Ricky Davis).
so saying that people do em ingame is wrong...

    3. it's not just VC that has done the 360 windmill...

    4. i've only seen that dunk two time in the game. and one of those was in the all-star game.
so i'm hapy about how things are

1. If it is possible to program adjustments, if defence is close, it has to be possible to know how far they are away. so thats not really a problem or at least it could be something to think about it the next sequels.

2. As u've seen Ricky Davis do that dunk, it proofs that it is no hocus pocus dunk and can be done; by the way Lebron did it too, INGAME!

3. ur right it wasn't only vincanity doin' it but the other guy who tried to do it certainly didn't do it ingame, right? He also did it at the dunkcontest.

4. Although u've only seen that dunk twice, it appears to happen even in heavy traffic, as i experienced a couple of times. U can't deny this fact!

So thats why i cant be quite happy with things as they are, and not only because they suspended dunks like the windmill, but because the dunks which stayed really look the same as in 2003 someway. People want to get surprised and stunned about some cool new looking dunks, certainly as long as they stay real in some way.
And u dont have to forget, that people still want to have fun playing this, because it still remains a game, and as a game , it still has to make people say WOW. And if they've kept or better added a few mind-blowing dunks, the game still wouldn't be to arcade-like. PERIOD.

The problem is it would happen too often or in the weirdest situations. 'Kobe drives the lane, goes up, gets fouled, and does a between the legs dunk :!: '

ur right.

to avoid this they should program some kind of break-away situation, or better, the program should be able to realize such a break-away situation where u only then can make such dunks. I don't think that would be too comlicated, because the nhl guys were able to do it.

i'd like so see something like that, it would be a nice adition...
and yes, the NHL guys had that 'breakaway cam', whish sucked, but it proves it can be done anyway...
