The more ive watched of the early release videos on youtube its refreshing to see a video like this and a hand full of others that know how to play a basketball sim, most are only uploading mycareer, park and neighbourhood videos

One thing I did notice last night from ShadyMikes stream (and Miss T's) gameplay video are that the cpu keeps pulling the ben Simmons drive to the basket which they have an open lay up but there swinging it out for 3 instead

Thanks for sharing this. Gameplay looks pretty smooth. In your honest opinion, is it worth the upgrade from 2K25? I'm still on the fence about this game. Any change or additions to the MyEras? And did we EVER hear anything at all about that 'Dawkins Glass' jar of glass shards easter egg? Interesting that they shared that image of easter eggs and then never revealed everything in the photo.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video.

If a roster update isn't a draw for you, and you liked 2K25 overall mechanically, I would stick with 2K25 for now. This game for me, so far is about 90 to 95% 2K25, but with some added frustrations.

IMO it's not worth the upgrade at this time. I discussed my first impressions on this weeks NLSC podcast which will be released on Tuesday.

The best way to play 2K26 right now is offline using the current NBA teams, on either pro or all-star. The higher you go up with difficulty levels, the more frustrating the gameplay gets. The current teams are far more accurate than the classic team contest, the TLC was put into the current teams and players. For me, the MyNBA eras rosters are not even playable right now without hours of editing needed.

I spent over 400 hours on 2K25, so the parts of 2K26 that are like 2K25 are okay at times. However, this is NOT a new motion system, and skating is NOT eliminated. Those are two claims from preview season. The skating/sliding is as bad or worse than 2K25, and this game is very, very similar to 2K25 from a look and feel perspective. Its the same motion system with tweaks.

I watched the same stream and saw the same thing. There is no help defense that should trigger those kickouts, and even then, the pass is just rifled to the player spotting up. So the pass is not likely to be intercepted. IRL, the help comes, the rotation shifts half way towards the open man, the player spotting up shifts a bit when the pass is made and maybe they shoot, drive, pumpfake the closeout or swing it to the next guy and it gets repeated. This should have been implemented a decade ago. AI seriously looks to be lacking.

Watching all those missed layups on real fg% was pretty wild. The over dribbling/sizeups and all the different change of momentum when players move around are so unnatural. I hear the input lag is the same as last year and there were issues of inputs not even registering while a player is idling.

It sucks because I really want to try a new basketball sim and the eras mode.

Thanks Derek, (sp?) I appreciate your honest assessment. That's kind of what I was afraid of....basically 2K25 with a fresh coat of paint. I have nowhere near as many hours sunk into 2K25 as you, but I think I'll stick with it for the time being. I have 2K25 on PC and 2K23 on Xbox X, and for some reason, I'm actually getting more enjoyment lately from the gameplay of 2K23; not even sure why. But again, I speak for the community when I say that we are grateful for you and Andrew giving honest opinions about the games and not being shills for 2K. You guys are much needed voices of truth and reason to old head bball gamers like me who could care less about modes like MyCareer, but rather who long for an accurate and fun basketball sim. Looking forward to the new podcast. Keep up the great work!

That's the right spelling.

And thank you for the compliments and for supporting the content!

Dee4Three, thanks for the evaluation. Just as I suspected, I'll wait for the 2K26 half-off sale early next year.

Colors and contrast definitely look better. Reduced fog is nice as well as the improved reflections. Only problem I have with the comparison is it looks like the regular 2K footage is from a blurry youtube video instead of a local capture. You can see the framerate difference on the modded version as well as it get choppy a bit here and there.

Agreed. there's a solo video of the modded version and it looks like it's in 8k so I'd imagine there would be a frame drop or 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOBsI1-dpK0&t=321s

It also looks like they gave credit to the poster of the unmodded video (Klemy2K) so we can do the comparisons ourself

I was working on my first slider set this weekend, and iam almost there with them. I really enjoyed the comeback 2nd quarter I had here with the Mavs vs Cavs, Cooper Flagg came alive after PJ hit 2 big 3's
I was getting pretty tired and did my classic pick up the wrong man resulting in easy pass and layups for them at the beginning but I loved how Cooper brought the game back.
