Stuttering

Postby web99992002 on Sat Sep 07, 2024 11:20 am

Hello,

I am having stuttering/quick stutter after every made basket on 5v5 games. Made free throws are unaffected though. I was wondering if anybody else has encountered the issue and if there is a recommendation on what can be done about it?

I have an RTX 3070 Ti. I have disabled Vertical Sync and Resolution Scaling. Medium Shadows.

If you change your shader detail setting to medium, it might fix the problem.

You could also try turning off Ambient Occlusion to see if that helps.

I'm also having this stuttering issue after made baskets and sometimes it happens on driving layups when players body up/make contact.

Playing offline on broadcast camera, updated driver using a 3070/144 refresh rate. I average 100-120fps in "modern arenas" with the game maxed out, 6700/7000 used low vram message.
Graphic Settings don't seem to matter, I turned everything to medium, including textures, restart game and the stutter is still there. I even changed monitor settings and tried it with a 60/90 fps lock, still stutters.

I don't think we can fix this on our end, 2k has to patch this stuttering issue, right?

Your GPU is technically better than mine, what is your CPU?

These are my specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x 8 Core Processor
GPU: AMD Radeon 6650 XT
RAM: 16GB

I'm not having the stuttering issue with everything on high. The game is at a constant 60 fps.

Also, are you trying to play in 4k? Have you tried 1080p?

Have you tried turning off the ray tracing reflections option?

It may just be that the game isn't optimized well for the 3070.

I reinstalled 560.94 via GeForce experience and it seemed to lessen the stutter

CPU: 10700k
RAM: 32DDR4

I'm playing at 1440p and the stutter is still there at 1080p. I tried every single 2k option at low in 1080p @60fps lock and it still stutters after every made basket. It doesn't stutter on FT makes and i don't think it stutters on the 1st basket of the game.

For now I'm just going to try and play with it almost maxed out, 60fps lock, turned shadows down, and now 2k says VRAM is at 5200/7250.

There has been a couple steam post about the same issue, I hope we're able to get 2k's attention about this stutter.

Did you make sure to also set your monitor to 60hz?

Hopefully if it's related to the optimization for that specific card, that they patch it eventually.

My game “runs” at 60 fps but it doesn’t feel like it. It feels like 30 with tons of stuttering. It’s really confusing and annoying.

Hey all,

Anyone found any solutions to this ??

I got the exact problem..with every made basket game stutters even if I'm on locked 60 or 90 or 120 fps....
Reduced graphics, reduced hz , reinstalled drivers , no dlss ,1080p alot of nvidia panel tweaks nothing fixes this ....I get and some random stutters here and there mostly during some prerendered animations when 2 players collide....

I'm on rtx 4060 ,12400f and 32gb ram ....have zero problems with other games ....

I contacted 2ksupport but they are trash telling stuff like make a clean boot and reinstall drivers and generic crap....

Also as above mentioned game is locked 60 and feels like 20....like micro stuttering everywhere ....when i play above 80 fps feels fine though the made basket stutter is there all the freaking time.....

try to modify videoconfig.cfg

videosettings location this year has changed for NBA2K25
new path is %LOCALAPPDATA%\2K Sports\NBA 2K25

- set the game in fullscreen mode, value = 0
- and priority at 2

after modification, set this file as Read Only.

you can also change the 60 fps limit, but it dont know how the game reacts on online mode.

So at 3:30 AM this morning I did a clean reinstall of my NVIDIA drivers via GeForce Experience and the game was finally running smooth. This afternoon I tried hopping on and the performance is terrible again.

Couple users on the steam forums suggest that the stutter is from some "camera flash effect" is triggered after a made basket.
Even with strobe/camera option off it still has a stutter.

Having exactly the same annoying freequent micro stuttering, playing on a 165hz 1440p Gsync Monitor with a RTX 2080 Super, R5 3600, 16GB DDR4, the game is installed on an SSD. Whenever a basket is scored (flashlight from photographers) the spikes happen and also here and there during a lot of other animations and also the transition wipes. I immediately thought of other games like RE8 for example which also used Denuvo and suffered from the same problem, after the devs removed Denuvo the game was buttery smooth. I tried every single possible graphics setting ingame, via the config and other nvcp stuff like low latency mode, vsync options, capping fps to 120 or 60 etc - nothing fixes it, it just doesn't feel completely smooth. Worrying and guessing it's either Denuvo causing it or a shader compilation issue - either way 2K has to fix it with a patch asap cause it's terrible and there are multiple threads and complaints from tons of people reporting the same issue. Some say the issue wasn't there before the patch which apparently ruined the performance but I bought the game on the 7th so I can't tell, did anyone here play it pre patch and can 2nd this? Although I'm extremely happy and hyped about new gen on PC it's ruining my gameplay experience with the game these first days

Steam put through another update and I think it fixed the after basket stuttering. At the moment most of the offline stuttering issues I had seem to be gone.

Can someone with the stutter issue install the update and double check?

The small patch rlsd yesterday thankfully fixed the terrible stutter when scoring but there are still some spikes during transitions and flashlights from the photographers still cause a big stutter (only on HIGH shaders though, with them on mid this stutter is gone too) Btw, does anyone know if there's a way somehow to force depth of field with medium shaders? Through the menu it's linked to the shader setting and gets automatically disabled if shaders are toned down to medium which is bad cause the game loses it's filmic look with it off but the shaders setting is by far the most taxing to adjust if u want better performance so it would be nice to be able to adjust it seperately

My thoughts on this.

1. Have you tried playing with shader detail level on medium or high? If that removes your stutter issues, it could just mean you need to lower your graphics settings a bit

2. Have you tried playing at 1920x1080 at 60fps, or 1920x1080 at 60fps on default high? If the stuttering goes away, it may just be because you needed to lower the resolution you are playing at

I've seen people say that the stuttering has gone away once they make similar tweaks. It's possible that your rig won't handle this game completely smooth at the resolution/framerate or settings you are choosing.

However, it's also possible that the game has an issue with certain nvidia cards.

Try the things I mentioned. If the stuttering is still there, the game might just not be well optimized for your card/rig (you didn't say what processor you have, or ram, etc)

Also, I play with Vsync ON, not sure if you are doing that. It eliminates screen tearing, which can sometimes look like stuttering

Let me know what you find out.

Try to disable Nvidia High Definition Audio in "Device Manager" and/or try to block this IP if you have a firewall 35.227.20.126

I'll check them out, man. Thank you!
It's not huge stuttering. FPS wise is still around (average) 58 - 60 fps as I found that locking the FPS to 60 works better with the stuttering.

Processor is Ryzen 5 3600 and RAM is 16 GB.

So far when I switched off the Ray-Tracing completely and off with the Clothing simulation (as per ShadyMikeGaming's advice), it seems better (maybe just placebo).

Oh wow ... I'll check it out .. thanks man.
How do you know about all these details? Did this help you with the micro stuttering in-game?

i dont think its gone
it seems random since last few patches

monitor the maximum GPU% in Afterburner.

i think i found a workaround
- enable vsync in NBA2K25
- set your refresh rate IN Nvidia Panel control (WINDOWS) at 60hz
- use nvidia inspector and import this profile
NBA 2K25.7z
