Talk about NBA 2K25 here.

Hi all,
Obviously there is some excitement in the community, as it was announced that NBA 2K25 PC will be new gen.

What will you attempt to mod first?

Do you plan on doing a big modding project?

If you plan on doing a big modding project, does it involve creating rosters? (MyNBA Eras related or otherwise)

Good idea for a thread.
Not sure where I'll start though. I imagine we'll have to wait for some new tools to come out before we can do much though. I think next gen for retro mods will be pretty cool once we can get our hands on them though so I tend to lean towards that.

One suggestion I'll make early on is that even if there is a delay in getting tools and external modding going, with all the content that MyNBA Eras brings, it'd still be worth working on projects using the in-game customisation functionality. They can always be polished up later when we have those tools, and much of the busywork will have already been done.

1) I'm new to modding so I wouldn't even know where to start (how to do so, what tools to utilize so I don't completely brick my PC, etc)
2) I'm big on the myEras rosters especially in the years between the starts of eras according to 2K (like say 1999 which is between the '91 Jordan Era and the '02 Kobe Era). Also I'd like to spread the love to the WNBA as 2K did a horrendous job with most of the women's models the last couple years.
3) If I could work on making the WNBA and expanding it with team who used to exist/move and changed names I totally would

After 10 years of continuously creating content, I need a break. But if we finally manage to get the mods to work in NBA 2K25, it would definitely be a great motivation for me to see my creations in new-gen graphics, and perhaps I'll get inspired at some point during the year to do something related to cyber faces for missing NBA players (retro ones) and an EuroLeague roster.
The good thing is that in new-gen, you can limit the number of teams; you don’t necessarily have to select 30-36 teams to play a league, so creating 18 EuroLeague teams wouldn’t be as insane as making 100 teams, which is currently unfeasible for me.
I have also wanted to create a roster based on the 2009-2010 NBA season over these years, but to tackle a project like that, the help of other community members is definitely necessary.

My thoughts:
As someone who's a draft class creator for 2k19-2k24. Here is the biggest things I've seen for MyEras which is where I exclusively create classes for, mainly the Kobe Era.
1. Most classes from 1983 to 2015 only have 18 real players per class. It is so difficult to add 50+ real players to a class and most of the time, the player scale is awful. Like it has 36 yo JR Smith getting drafted at 18 yo. The player models are terrible. Having an editor that's wide scale makes player editing a lot easier.
2. The 2nd biggest issue is the lack of options for Era courts and jerseys. Sometimes they have the right Era jersey but not the arena and it drives me crazy since I tend to play with Atlanta. I would like the options to play with the Pistol Pete Era jerseys or previous eras which are in the game but not available for that specific Era. This being fix would just make so much since.
3. Presentation like real ESPN for Kobe Era, real NBC for the MJ era, yeah, that would be nice. I've seen this on 2k24 for PC so this is normal.
4. This biggest issue is the Era draft classes. You want it to be realistic. Tendencies need to match the Eras style of play. I wish there was a good draft class randomizer that focus on style of play for that era. The random fillers should play like fillers from the 90s. Not 2024 guys.

Good looking out! I've noticed that the placeholders in MyNBA Eras are often era-inappropriate, from ratings and tendencies to something more superficial like hairstyles.

First thing I'm doing is going through the manifest file to find out what's in the game.

when I see the graphics of 2k25 I feel like it's downgraded compare to 2k21 next-gen I just hope we can get the mod early in this new-gen.

Man, yall remember Tony Hawks Pro skater where they let you build a park. I'd pay extra is 2K let us do that to NBA 2K frfr! That'd be a hell of a feature. Just something to let us add our own images and style floor that's not in an arena.

I will be working on my Roster that I make for every version, which is a reset of the NBA in 1949. Very excited for it this year as the option to start with fewer teams on the pc version will limit my work a great deal, as otherwise I make a lot of custom but era appropriate players that are lower quality, but not just completely filler, and I won't have to do that this time.
1. So yeah, first off I will work on my 1949 roster.
2. Then I will work on draft classes starting in 1949.
Hoping to purchase the game this month and get started on that soon, which will be the earliest ive jumped into a new release of 2k in at least....15 years? So that's kind of exciting. I think the last one that I bought the month it came out was the one with the Jordan, Magic, Bird options for covers, so yeah, it's been awhile.

I'm going to use the PC version my MyGM, and PS5 for mycareer. But, my first mod is looking to be able to make any build to test out, then create it on PS5 to avoid spending the VC twice.

The Game lets you test out the maxed out version of your build before you finalize it.
No need to try to mod that. 2K doesn't wasn't modding or hacking of builds.

Hey guys, long time no see!
I'm hoping to be able to update my Cyberface Mixer tool that I originally made for 2K20-21, as soon as we'll figure out file exporting from 2K25.
I've been on PS5 these last few years and I've been sorely missing the ability to create custom faces, now I'm itching to re-create a variation of (at least some of) my fictional draft classes from 2K21!

First look, no mods folder but a mod.exe, I ran it but not sure what it did as a window popped up and disappeared?
Manifest doesn't show the sub folders 0A etc
File explorer shows files with 0 bytes
