Talk about NBA 2K25 here.

Hi guys it's been a while. The game in a nutshell is AWESOME. The changes in dribbling animation, shooting and the general feel is out of this world. The graphics are the best(trust me I know I had been playing it on PS5) and it is a wholesome PC port with everything a modern PC GPU can do. I can't get enough of it. If you want to ask me for info and details about it just ask me.

Anyone with a Notebook with RTX 4050 running the game?
I need to know how it would run here on my notebook, to choose PC or PS5 version.
My Specs:
i7 13700HX
RTX 4050 (6GB)
24GB RAM

I think you will be fine

Is anyone else experiencing that when you edit a player jumpshot, the release animation preview is always tied to the selected shot base and not the selected release(s)? Have tried all levels of blending, but the release animation previews only changes along with the associated shot base. Hopefully gets fixed quick.

A lot of new in game menu options in comparison to NBA 2K24 on PC.
I immediately tuned gameplay speed to my own liking and so far no complaints with gameplay during my limited play.

well just a quick game with classics 98 teams, Bulls vs Jazz
pretty nice gameplay, no issue except legacy loss ball on body contact
the PC port is well done IMO
about modding, files structure is really different (no facexxxx.iff or sXXX.iff for example, txtr files format is different etc...)

PS5 version crashed my console as I mentioned elsewhere - as did NBA 2K24 last year, for that matter - so that's something I'll have to troubleshoot. However, the PC version is working great, and the medium settings it defaulted to on my mid-tier gaming rig were still quite nice. I'll have to play around with the settings and see just how much it can handle.
Having completed a game, my first impressions are more positive than last year. I need to spend a lot more time with the game before I make any bold declarations of course, but it was promising. I want to play more, which is key. Player movement and responsiveness of the controls felt better, and I also liked the feel of shooting more than NBA 2K24. I'm feeling more optimistic than I was during the preview season; we'll see how it shapes up the more time I log on the sticks, but it was a pleasing first proper session. Before the issues on PS5 there were some fun moments too, so again, it bodes well as I prepare to spend more time with it.

Hey Andrew, what your PC specs?
Thu Sep 05, 2024 7:47 am
When it worked it was a beautiful looking game. Now it crashes on my PC every time it compiles shaders. Like completely turns my PC off.
I9 12900K
RTX 4090
Got the newest Nvidia driver too.
Browsing the Steam forums, seem like everyone who has a 1200 series or higher CPU is having the same issue. So for now I will just play the PS5 version.

Got some extended time with it yesterday on both my main setup (desktop 3080) and laptop (laptop 4070). Performance wise, no real issues apart from when I started trying to stream to twitch while playing 4K (just made my frames less than desirable, but still playable).
Quite a few bugs I've came across when trying to control with the keyboard (rebinding issues and some missing buttons in instant replay) but no issues when playing with the controller.
Gameplay overall is phenomenal. Haven't been able to play extensively on current gen since I never got one of the consoles, so a big gameplay leap for me. The Pro play animations they were advertising is no joke, player likeness feels 10x more real to life than ever. Each of the big players feels unique and the go-to shot sequences are a really fun way to explore the iso game. Shot contest systems are leaps and bounds above 2K24 on PC and make things like the mid range game much more viable if you get the timing on the shots down.
Mainly just been in PlayNow and Learn2K so far. Was having a lot of fun with the new mini games in Learn2K. Wish they would add that to the blacktop or something so that you could select any player instead of just the 5 available for each drill. Looking forward to sinking my teeth into MyEras.

So how is the controller delay / input lag compared to previous years?
Fri Sep 06, 2024 5:14 am
How are fast breaks this year? One thing that has bothered me in previous years was the lack of proper 3-on-2, 2-on-1, 1-on-nothing fast breaks that lead to highlight plays.

Hey guys, I buy 2K25 on Steam today...
For those who want to know, the game runs WONDERFULLY WELL on a Notebook gamer with a RTX 4050 6GB.
I'm running it on HIGH (some things on ultra) at native 1440p. I played on the PS5 last 3 years and the game is amazing on PC, equal or better than PS5 with 4K res.
I have Ray Tracing enabled on HIGH with my config.
The first impressions are EXCELLENT, for MyNBA Eras (my favorite mode). 2K went back to using the old shorts, with more movement and realism, NOW WE CAN EDIT THE PLAYERS' BODIES!!!! (neck, wingspam, legs and shoulders) We can finally edit players for different bodies!!!!
The court mods are already working!!!! I'm going to start working on that right now! I'm SO EXCITED to get back into NBA 2K on PC and MODs, LET'S MAKE THIS GAME AMAZING!

I still think I'll probably wait until it's majorly discounted or if I can snag a code from somewhere. Just don't want to put $70 into it since, knowing how I am, I'd be made to feel obligated into paying for VC to do what I'd want to do anyways.
It's at least nice to see mostly positive impressions. I hear there's new shooting modes that basically get rid of the green window and treat it more like a good release from older 2Ks to lessen the shot timing penalty?

I think it's better than last year, though not on par with NBA 2K14-NBA 2K17 in my book.

Thanks. I had a feeling it wasn't anything special, not hearing much about it from early reviews.

Despite some concerns, I went and got the game. And I have to say, it plays beautifully and smooth. Yes, some of the input lag is still there (especially the late reach when you try to go for an on-ball steal), but overall, this finally feels like I'm actually in control. How often in the past did I throw an outlet pass only for my player to almost come to a stop and the defense catching up to him. And when driving, the feeling of getting "sucked in" by the defender is finally gone. Driving to the hoop still isn't way easier, it just feels more realistic and fair. I love the gameplay so far. I also like the menus compared to last year's version. Feels more structured and easily accessible. And thank the lord, no more input lag for something as simple as a menu option.
That being said, there are some issues. Auto substitutions don't seem to take into consideration the rotation I have set up. Needs to be fixed. And changing the release animation doesn't seem to do anything at all. I also don't like most of the overlays. The shooting meter doesn't give a clear indication when the button should be released. And the pass indicator on the play vision overlay isn't exactly popping, so I often miss that I should be passing the ball.
Overall, I'd say this was 70€ well spent and I'm looking forward to sinking most of my spare time into this game.

The jordan era 90's video filter is nice, it even plays Roundball Rock theme during halftime. Now we just need some nba on nbc textures to make it complete.
Also, I don't understand why 2k won't let us use the 90's filter on a "modern roster"? Now I have to edit a modern roster and a jordan roster this year...
If I ignore after basket stuttering this game is a huge upgrade from the nba 2k23 PC version.

finding out that roundball rock was in the game was the main reason I decided to purchase.

Well, after the yesterday's disappointment of PS5 Pro announcement (800 euro for Pro without vertical stand and disc drive lmao what are they smoking), I have decided to get this year's 2K for PC.
Gameplay feels good, game running buttery smooth definitely helps (9900K + 3080). I think you can definitely feel the court being bigger (or players smaller, doesn't matter that much which way around) as it gives you a bit more freedom around the court.
Also compared to Xbox MyTeam loads lightning fast, while on the console 2K24 sometimes took solid couple minutes to load simple triple threat offline for no particular reason.
I did have one crash when creating a second build (wanted to see if I could get young/old Shaq shades) and Steam maintenance caused the game to go into an unrecoverable lockup forcing me to alt+f4.

I'll put together a write-up soon, but Dee and I shared our early impressions in this week's NLSC Podcast:

Couple days in, I'm noticing a lot more animations. I know ProPlay was on consoles last year, but on my Series S it felt more... subtle.
This year so far I'm really seeing stuff that makes me go "well, that's new".
Sat Sep 14, 2024 1:54 pm
Definitely. I'm noticing it on layups and other shots around the basket in particular.

After pretty much missing a year on the sticks I decided to get back into 2k based off the good reviews I've seen on X and from listening to the podcast, I picked up a ps4 from ebay for £30 which came with an unofficial ps controller so I don't know if this is an issue related to the ps4, controller or nba 2k25 but half the time when iam loading the game it crashes back to the home screen but will load most times on the next try.
As for the game itself I expected features to be missing and not as deep as the next gen version but there is alot missing considering that the price difference is only £10 between the ps4 and ps5 version, the game however was a gift so iam trying to focus on the game and not the price.
Despite many of the courts and player likenesses being out of date by quite some time the game is actually pretty fun and more realistic than the last time i sent some real time playing 2k which was 2k23 on the ps4 so iam not sure what was addressed on 2k24 and what is new this year but either way the game is much more smoother and I honestly hadn't noticed till the podcast when the guys pointed out that the players are smaller and court is bigger makes the play more open and space to operate in is far better than recent years and i love the little things like the bigs tapping the ball out on rebounds and also the ball rattling around the rim before it goes in looks more realistic than I remember.
It's very early days for me playing it but so far so good out the box (digitally) iam having alot more fun than I have in years but like I mentioned for 2k to not include basic things like up to date courts and player likenesses as well as not including certain features but still charging £69.99 in the ps store is robbery really but overlooking that I am impressed with the gameplay.
Edit - I've looked at some of my old 2k uploads and iam not so sure if the players and courts are different sizes now on the ps4, it does feel more open and spaced tho.
Another thing is that foot planting and sliding on defence are still an issue on the ps4, well for the user at least. The cpu has no issues at all stopping on a dime

Interesting to get some perspectives on the prior gen version! Sounds like we've definitely reached the point where it's not too much more than a roster update with minimal cosmetic changes to go along with it. Not too surprising of course, but as you alluded to, one might expect a little more given that it's still basically full-priced.
