NBA 2K25 ERAS (PC)

Thu Jul 11, 2024 1:41 am

Is anyone else excited about the modding possibilities with Eras finally making it to PC?

I feel like having this structure will make it a lot of fun

It's definitely overdue! I'd suggest that it'll prove to be a good head start for retro roster projects, too.

Absolutely, retro rosters gonna be amazing this year! Praying that mods will be hopefully possible on new gen PC like in the past on the old version. If so, we will make this 2K the best of all time. For the first time since 2018 I'm hyped about a 2K rls again :D

I will admit that I’m not a “modder” but I can definitely help with graphics & logos.

I just want to help build the best retro project possible :chug:

I'm very excited about the potential retro project possibilities, but then I remember I haven't really enjoyed the gameplay too much in recent games and I lose a little bit of the excitement

We'll see how quickly we can get modding tools off the ground with this new gen. They've clearly been planning to bring the Eras mode to PC because of all the hidden face and artwork files in 2k24.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard new-gen was finally coming to PC.....we can finally get a proper Barkley and Reggie Miller in the game for Eras! I bought 2K23 for Xbox X just for the Eras mode. Passed on 2K24 but I think I'll move back to PC for 2K25 with this great news.

Wow Dudes,

I've been playing next gen for the last 3 years and I always think about what NBA 2K Eras could become in our hands (MODDERS).

The potential is absurd! Because the base is very good, but there are several details missing that we can fix with time.

Very excited about the possibilities! I'm coming back!

About time, I haven't been this excited to play 2k in years. Modders unite!

That's the catch, for sure. I have a PS5 so MyNBA Eras is something I've had at my disposal these past couple of years, but the gameplay of NBA 2K23 and NBA 2K24 has left me cold.

Minus the gameplay - the inaccuracies with Eras bugged me too

For sure. A lot of work to fix it up to play.

Animations were not great for retro players either past years, animatoion mod should be worked on if it`s gonna be possible.

I'm still not sure how all of this works??? But if its retro, then I'm all for it....

MyNBA Eras is the new version of MyLEAGUE (the franchise mode) which includes multiple starting points:

- The current day, as is normal in franchise modes
- The Bird/Magic era, with the first season being 1983-1984
- The Jordan era, which begins with the 1991-1992 season
- The Kobe era, beginning in 2001-2002
- The LeBron era, tipping off with the 2010-2011 campaign
- NBA 2K25 will introduce another era, which is what we're speculating about here

If you start in an earlier era, you encounter all the historical Draft classes as they come into the league. Teams will also change branding according to when they did in real life, and rules and league formats will also change as per history (you can also choose to override these changes, introduce alternatives, etc). There are some inaccuracies here with teams having the wrong courts and logos relative to the era, but it's a more than admirable effort across the decades.

Also, the rosters aren't complete because not everyone has been licensed to appear in the game, so there are placeholders here and there, players like Chuck, Reggie, and Sheed are missing, and so on. However, it's still a pretty comprehensive and impressive historical franchise mode in addition to the traditional current season starting point. Now that it's on PC, it opens up a lot of modding possibilities, since we can edit those rosters to add missing players, fix up existing ones, etc. The rosters are also playable in Play Now on top of being starting points in MyNBA, so it's a lot of historical content right out of the gate.

Oh man it’s going to be so much fun creating these left out players. Let’s hope the modding tools remain somewhat the same

People have been able to make some impressive projects on console just using the in-game editing functionality. As I said in another topic, we shouldn't get too discouraged if we don't have external tools right away. It's important to make the best of what we have and get creative in the meantime, do the legwork on those big projects, and then polish them up when we have the tools to make them even better.

I am so hyped for this year's 2k. My hope is that maybe eventually we will even be able to edit the calendar system to roll the MyEras back even further, but I know that is very long term if it ever happens. My hope for the new era is definitely Wilt vs. Russell timeline (hopefully 67 or earlier) or the Merger year.

I would hope we could shorten the 99 & 2011 seasons but that's very wishful thinking without it messing up something else

so they added the steph eras. I'm disappointed they added little in MyNBA.

I am so disappointed by this. Took the game from a day 1 buy to whenever it goes on major sale for the holidays since most of the modding won't have occurred by then anyways. Like why do we need a bookmark season in the year span we already have, and why like the least interesting year possible at that? Cool, now everyone can cook on the computer with the Curry and Durant Warriors, like there's nothing interesting about that period. Like if anything move it back a year so you get Kobe's farewell tour. Just very bland and boring to me :(

Just as I predicted, the Curry ERA. Which makes sense to me, since that dynasty is pretty much over now that Klay has left...there is no longer a splash brother.

I would have liked to see this ERA called the "LeBron vs Curry" era much like the Magic/Bird era.. but nonetheless, it's good to see it come to life.

I don't understand the negativity around this quite frankly, especially for the PC community.

Even if we cannot mod, I am happy to just simply run a re-shader and make the next gen 2k look better... the console versions were very dull.. lack of detail and most of that is just a brightness issue.

My problem is it should have been 2015-16, as that is widely considered one of the best seasons of all time and far more iconic (and more interesting than 2017 which will be dominated by the Warriors with KD).

But it's the Steph era. Might as well dial it one season back to 14-15 to capture his first title, that's when the "Steph Era" officially began.

Re: NBA 2K25 ERAS (PC)

Fri Aug 16, 2024 12:35 pm

Despite winning the title, I find that most people resonate with the 2015-16 season for Steph and the Warriors. Both as a more interesting season overall and Steph's best season. I think they should just have every season as an option, but if we need to pinpoint a good area for the Steph Era, most would want 2016. There's no right answer, of course.

2017 as a starting point spaces things out a bit, and gets to some of the recent Draft Classes sooner, so it's logical in that regard. It's kind of underwhelming, but definitely not unexpected.
