The W Courtside Report

The W, the WNBA version of MyCAREER, will make its PC debut in NBA 2K25. Full details here: https://nba.2k.com/2k25/courtside-report/the-w/

For those who'd like a summary of the key points, they are as follows:

  • The W is centred around the Pursuit of Greatness story, which is all about becoming the greatest WNBA player of all-time. This involves hitting goals to move up the list of all-time great players, mirroring a similar feature in MyCAREER.
  • Fully-voiced press conferences will contribute to the overarching story and provide role-playing opportunities, as in NBA MyCAREER over the years. After the introductory press conference at the beginning of your career, they'll occur after key games, career milestones, and other important events.
  • The W Online, a connected 3v3 multiplayer mode, now takes place on an outdoor court situated in a forest grove.
  • Weekly Community Goals return, with new goals including number of Green Releases and favourable teammate grades. If the community reaches the set goals four weeks out of six every Season, everyone receives a reward. The rarity of your reward depends on your level of participation in those efforts.
  • Mentorship has been added to the Game Changers mechanic. Taking another player under your wing as a mentee will result in being issued a challenge that will earn an appropriate boost if successfully completed.
  • There will be rewards throughout the year, as in MyCAREER. Completing the necessary tasks to earn them will also contribute to the Weekly Community Goals.

I'm turning into an owl here. Who. Who. Who asked for this lmao.
The thing is that the rest of the stuff sounds neat, but throwing this in as a highlight of the changes is just so weird.

It pads out the Courtside Report, I suppose. They do tend to mention when they add new courts and locales in various modes. I expect the MyTEAM preview will note wherever Triple Threat and Triple Threat Offline games will take place, along with a screenshot or two.

Well, not everything can be for everyone, and that's fine. Fortunately there's plenty of other content in the game on the NBA side of things, so we're not short of choices. Even though I'm drawn to (retro) NBA stuff myself, I'm glad the WNBA is in the game, and I'll always support its inclusion and the people working on it. Obviously the league has gained some popularity this year, what with the Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese debates and more interest in general, but a standalone title probably still isn't feasible yet. Far more viable to have NBA 2K provide both leagues in one game.

Ηello, is it normal to play the whole game without getting subbed?

This can happen in My career as well or only in The W?

I haven't played either mode yet, but historically speaking, you should definitely be subbed out and then re-enter the game as per the rotation. Could be a bug if that's not happening.
