Talk about NBA 2K25 here.

I want to take sometime to just share my thoughts and pass the positivity along.
I know most of us are die-hard NBA gaming fans, playing for decades. I am like that myself. I am also nostalgic and tend to play the older NBA lives or 2k's from time to time. Shout out to Dee4three for motivating me back to getting on NBA Live 10.
Yes - I can be dissasatisfied with what we've seen recently, Yes the Arena environment looks dead. Yes, the court reflections are still lacking. Yes, some of the court colours can use some tweaking.
BUT... we are finally getting next-gen on PC. We are getting NBA era's. Once we are able to mod, whether it be this year or next year for 2k26. This is a mega library and database for us. This means that 2k has a logic in place for us to start something great with. This is just the beginning.
Also - 2k has not even shared full details of the improvements and tweaks that they have done to modes like MyNBA. They have generalized it, so let's remain positive!

I skipped out on 2K24, and I've never played the New Gen version of the game, so I'm looking forward to 25.
Just getting it on PC as New Gen has me excited. Also, all the modding with MyNBA and Eras is gonna be great, even if the info has been underwhelming to some.
I'm not worrying about courts or jerseys not being accurate in Eras because that will most likely be fixed by the modding community.

I definitely appreciate the sentiment. We should never want to be so jaded that we can't look forward to or enjoy anything, or dismiss a game out of hand before we've even played it. The PC finally getting the New Gen version is a big deal, and there's a lot of promise there.
At the same time, we never want to engage in toxic positivity; that is to say, where criticism and concerns are shouted down in the name of being positive. We're all going to be varying degrees of excited, hopeful, sceptical, cynical, concerned, hyped, positive, and negative, and for valid reasons. It should all be part of the discussion.
In my case, I have played NBA 2K21-2K24 on PlayStation 5, and I've honestly not been too impressed with the generation of games that's now coming to PC. For me, it's not just about what I've seen and read as it pertains to NBA 2K25, but also my disappointment with NBA 2K24 and the direction of the games leading up to that.
I don't want to dampen anyone's enthusiasm, but if you were to ask me if I think that the PC is in for some undeniably fantastic gameplay that's a huge improvement on what we've seen recently, then based on my time with the PS5 version, my honest answer would be that I've not really enjoyed those games all that much. As such, for me, NBA 2K25 has a lot to prove. That remains my opinion at the end of the day rather than an objective fact, but nevertheless, it does come from hands-on experience.
It is awesome that New Gen is coming to PC though, with all of its content and future-proofing (no worries about it disappearing along with the PS4/X1 version when that time comes!). We may have to be patient when it comes to external modding tools, but we can and should do whatever's possible in-game in the meantime. We can also get back to devising slider suggestions, and sharing tips for enhancing gameplay and mastering controls. I do think there could be some exciting opportunities with NBA 2K25 PC from modding to gameplay discussion, so here's hoping for the best.
A positive outlook is admirable and again, I agree with the general sentiment. However, as a gentle counterpoint, there also has to be room for some scepticism, as well as critique during the inevitable two week honeymoon period where it's virtually impossible to say anything negative about a new release without getting some backlash. The motto I feel we should have in our community is "fans, not fanboys; critics, not haters", and I think being willing to keep a positive attitude is a major part of that. A positive echo chamber is no better than a negative one though, so basically, everything in moderation I suppose!

That's exactly what I was thinking. I played NBA 2K21 - 2k24 on my XBOX series X but I don't have many hours played between them.
I can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but something about gameplay in those new games is not really appealing to me, doesn't make me want to keep playing it. It looks cool, in lack of a better word, animations are great, it looks smooth but I don't if it's lack of footplanting, or too much animations so players just occupy more space so everything feels off a bit or something like that. It lack something older games had what I enjoyed. And it's not nostalgia speaking. I recently watched and played NBA 2K14 on my PC and it felt better than 2k24 on my XBOX.
I don't know how much modders are going to be able to improve the game, but as you, I am also concerned NBA 2K25 won't be such a huge hit as everybody is expecting it. I hope I am wrong, but maybe expectations should be in check.

Movement and responsiveness hasn't really felt good for most of this generation, at least in my opinion. They've tried a few different things with shooting that has led to inconsistency year-to-year, and some rather bad ideas (I feel they just need to give up on shot aiming, unless they go back to NBA 2K17's method). "Built from the ground up" hasn't been as exciting, or frankly as honest, as one would hope.
With that being said, a lot of people enjoyed NBA 2K24 more than I did, and there's some promising stuff with NBA 2K25. I haven't been able to play it for a long time because it crashed my PS5 as NBA 2K24 did (still troubleshooting that) and the PC version is still downloading, but apart from that, I wasn't instantly turned off from my brief hands-on time. Once I figure out what's happening there/finish downloading the PC version, we'll see how it goes. The important thing is that we're honest, with ourselves, with each other, and with 2K whenever we have the opportunity to provide feedback.
