Changing modded accessory to different accessory?

I was wondering if I could take a custom accessory mod that I downloaded (ie shorter medium band) and have it replace an accessory that is less commonly used or a duplicate (ie small band and low band)? That way I can still use the original medium band and the short Tatum medium band. I tried changing the file names and it did not work and crashed my game. Any help with this would be awesome

I like this idea too, definitely want to replace those elbow sleeves
