Creating courts: Blender vs Photo editing tool?

Postby KyotoCarl on Thu Sep 15, 2022 11:40 pm

Hello!

I was wondering: in 2K20 some created courts where editable in a photo editing program and some seemed to be strictly Blender. What's the difference? Is it possible to mod/create courts just using a photo editor?

I did some personal edits, like adding Playoff logos to courts, just because I wanted them in MyLeague, but that's when I found out not every court was editable this way.

If you use the IFF file included with template by Lagoa or RobDavis you can just edit using Photoshop or any other graphic program. Save the file as big76ers256.0200976aa730f40b.dds and import in to the IFF file with 7Zip. Lethanos' template also works. I have not tried any 16k court templates myself. First copy the original IFF file included with the template and rename the IFF file as f999.iff replacing the 999 with your team ID. You can also save courts as alternates, f999_alt.iff. Save the DDS file as DXT1 no alpha with mipmaps OR using Intel TextureWorks BC1 4bpp (linear) auto generate(mips). Courts are all the same for 2K20-2K23.
I don't use Blender so I don't know if the Blender option is better or not but the photo editing option is easier.

Thank you for clearing it up a bit. Yeah, when I put playoff logos on the courts I was limited to the courts I had that had the big76ers file in it.
Thanks again!
