contains panels with player photo and panels with just logo
I didn't edit the NBA Logo team stat comparison panels. just didn't feel like it.
TNT texture made by karinge tnt scoreboard and nbatv texture made from ernel nbatv scoreboard. I just moved texture stuff around. I'm not great in photoshop. Hopefully somebody more talented will make better texture panels.

Lower3rd Panel Notes and Guide (file attached to this post)

the panels are easier to mod this year.
the team player stats (player portrait) are contolled by lwr3rd_panel_player_team2.SCNE.
the team comparison stats (team stat; nba logo) are controlled by lwr3rd_panel_generic.SCNE
the gatorade substitution panel is controlled by lwr3rd_uneven212.SCNE & lwr3rd_uneven212_bg.SCNE

lwr3rd_content_box.SCNE also does a few stuff... i think the black box behind the stats... i didn't do much with that scene file... maybe blank.dds... cant remember.

word position are animation files, but i didn't move any words, just kept words default.

Anyways, the texture is test.dds... i positioned it to fill the bottom half of the screen (see below)

Anwyays, just edit the test.dds into a new texutre panel. I didn't change the lwr3rd_panel_generic.SCNE (team stats; nba logo) ... just didn't feel like it...

the game has a mask that over-exposes the image. Not sure how to change the mask or fx file. maybe somebody else can figure it. I just edited test.dds in GIMP ... then on the main menu went to colors-> Exposure -> black level is 0.0 and exposure is -2.0 ... that kinda fixed the game dds color... you will see.

Anyways, pretty easy to edit. can open lwr3rd_panel_player_team2.SCNE and move player portrait, team color, team color with background texture, .... the main texture box ... vertex group "pPlaneShape1" i would just leave alone (test.dds; main texture) unless you feel the need to fiddle with main texture.
Could be compatible with 2k22 and 2k21... just maybe switch out the Lower3rd.VCUIELEMENT and see if it works in 2k22 and 2k21.


Hope people make some nice panels. My photoshop skills are fairly basic.

Oh, yeah, how to test panels easier.... put gamespeed to 100.... put all cpu/user shooting/layup/movement to 100 ... pick team with superstars... the game will pop a panel after a made basket... and more panels is important player is making the basket... so lebron, curry, chris paul... there is usually 2 or 3 of the "good" players on each team that get more panels. Anwyays, i usually do warriors/lakers/suns and make basket, and then have cpu make basket. 5 min quarters is good time, for me, for testing panels.

Amazing work as always bongo! scoreboard mods didn't feel the same last year without the panels lol. Happy to see you on 2k23 and I can't wait to see more of your stuff!!

Fantastic work! I'll second what monja said about how much of a bummer it was not having good lower3rd elements last year; I resorted to just turning lower3rd off, honestly. Props for the guide as well; I'm trying to document more of my process for things this year too.

ive tested three scoreboards from 22, and so far they work good. except for a tnt one, that one would bug my instant replays, nothing a game-breaking but it caused a delay when a replay was triggered.

no coaches challeng for pc 2k23.... or maybe i don't know how to challenge, lol... haven't opened 2k23 scoreboard... just used 2k20 as base

people been asking about a espn scoreboard... guess it's a paid mod or something... made by somebody else.. that what i read somewhere.

anyways, i don't really wanna be modding scoreboards, but paid mods suck as well (my opinion) ... though i do understand... a dollar is different depending where in the world you live
or, if you are a professional like karinge or looyh (glad they don't charge for their mods...)

Anywyas, probably not gonna make too many scoreboards... probably only this one .... but working on the espn so y'all don't gotta pay for a mod.

The textures are not good.... so if somebody more skilled wants to improve the textures for everbody, well, that'd be cool... otherwise, just will release it with my bad textures.

talking bout the ESPN one: would it be possible to move the whole panel upwards a bit, so that it doesnt cover the scoreboard anymore?


edit: was playing around with a custom design for my online league. the colors of the panel come out a lot different than in the file. do you have an idea why? and how I could change that?

game is overexposing the image.... In the post about the panels there is a paragraph about how to fix the overexspoure in gimp, but here is photoshop tutorial if you need it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-siaFzjLwQ in gimp i dropped the exposure -2.0... dunno about photoshop.

Karl Malone by dabaoge --- originally made for 2k18... converted to 2k23

Anyways, dabaoge made an amazing Malone back in 2k18 and i always convert it to whatever 2k i'm playing. Anyways, took a whole 2 minutes to run it through the mesh converter.... but they eyes were broken and I couldn't fix it
Many thanks to 2kspecialist for fixing the eyes for me. Not sure how long 2kspecialist worked on the eyes.... but after an hour of me trying with the eyes, i gave up and asked 2kspecialist for help. many thanks.

Scoreboard was made using Karinge espn logos viewtopic.php?f=267&t=110615
other logos may be taller or shorter .... logo height will vary depending on what logos you use.

Scoreboard for 2k23. Used 2k23 base (den2k tnt to be exact). Haven't worked any on the espn scoreboard... just so y'all know.
Open permissions, like always, for all my mods... do whatever you want with them, don't even need to credit me.
textures are ok... psd files attached to this post if anybody wants to improve the textures. enjoy.
