Possible NBA 2K23 Cover Player Leak

Sat Jul 02, 2022 2:07 pm

While reporting on Devin Booker's contract extension, Shams Charania casually mentioned that "per sources", Booker is also the cover player for NBA 2K23.

Shams Charania wrote:The Phoenix Suns and All-NBA guard Devin Booker are finalizing a four-year, $214 million supermax contract extension that he’s set to sign as soon as next week, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Booker will also be the cover athlete for NBA 2K23, per sources.

The teaser on the official NBA 2K Twitter mentions cover players (plural), which could of course refer to the special edition and international covers. Nevertheless, it sounds like Devin Booker will be one of the featured players this year. At least, that's what Shams Charania has heard, and the Tweet hasn't been deleted yet.

It should also be noted that it's the special edition, so Devin Booker may still be on the cover of the regular edition.

IGN are reporting that they're both special editions, with the Championship Edition likely being the most expensive version as it will include an NBA League Pass subscription. WWE 2K22 had a couple of special editions, so it wouldn't surprise me if they do the same with NBA 2K23, and then a cheaper standard edition that will be announced shortly. Just my speculation based on IGN's report, but either way, I'm favouring the MJ Edition.
