New PC & backups question

Postby Bassman58 on Wed Aug 23, 2023 3:54 am

I'm getting a new PC and will I have to do anything to ensure MyLeague leagues and my rosters are still available after I re-install the game? I will copy my "mods" folder first. I only play offline MyLeague and exhibition games. I have the "keep games saves in Steam Cloud for NBA 2K23" enabled already. Just don't want to loose my rosters and leagues and I don't want to upload these and waste server space on rosters that others don't want.

NBA 2K16 · AppID: 370240 - SteamDB
NBA 2K17 · AppID: 385760 - SteamDB
NBA 2K18 · AppID: 577800 - SteamDB
NBA 2K19 · AppID: 841370 - SteamDB

So Stickey, just to be clear, you are suggesting that I copy the Steam local and remote folders. I guess that means I should not rely on Steam to have saved my files. Just to be sure I'll do that. I have never had much luck with adding other peoples rosters going through the remote folder. 2KShare is no problem. I miss the 2K14 days with ROS files.

Yes
Do you know exactly which files Steam saves ? no. Btw for old games with no more access to 2K servers, imo its the only way to have the last sync.bin file i think.

You can still try to backup the files i mentionned but not use them to check if my post is necessary. And if something missing, you overwrite with your backup.

Thanks for the info and help. Yes, I do know what files are in the Steam save. I will backup just to be sure. I did not have a 64 bit PC until 2K21 so I have three games to backup. I do know my way around a PC. I think this info will be useful for others too.

FYI, Just got the new PC. Installed NBA 2K23. All my rosters and leagues were still available on the Steam Cloud.

If Steam Cloud is enabled, your MyLeague saves and rosters should carry over automatically. Just to be safe, back up your save files from the 2K23 folder in AppData/Roaming/2K Sports. Better safe than sorry!
