It's been 10 years since I made a post here. Time goes by fast. Hard Core fan of NBA Live back in the day. When Live ended, went to 2K12 on PS3. Played on it for a few years, then life happens. Work, family, kids, etc. I have not play video games for 10 years. Now I'm back. PS3 still works, but seems like the game does not work. Like the server for 2k12 has been turned off or no longer supported.
Because I've been away so long, excuse me if I'm using the wrong terms. You know what I'm talking about. Back in the NBA Live days, I would play a Dynasty. Create me in the game. Play for seasons after seasons. This is how I still want to play. I think I started back in Live 98
Here are my questions:
- For NBA 2k12. Is it true that I can't play on it anymore? I just can't get it to work like in the Dynasty mode. I still have my saved files. The game is no longer supported? So might as well throw aways the disc?
- My sons have moved on to PS5, so the PS4 is mine. They bought a NBA 2k23, and lost interest. I want to play it now. Like a "Dynasty mode." I'm struggling to set it up. The only way to add me in the game is My Career. Ok, but the downside is I can only be me. I can't switch players like running a fast break, where I'm the PG and pass the ball to the Big Man that's under the basket. I'm stuck on playing only me. How can I switch and play "everyone" on my team?
- To set up My Career, you have to be on-line. As I was setting it up, I recall seeing a message that said something like the servers for 2k23 will end 12/31/2024. And then prompt to pre-order 2k25. I've been getting emails also pre-ordering 2k25. So the game life of the games now are that short? Wow.
- I was thinking of looking for an older basketball game, but if all NBA2K work like this where the game becomes obsolete, I don't have much choice to "always buy newest." Not like the old days of playing the same game for years. NBA Live is back, is it better? Better in the sense it does what I want to do mentioned above. Just play in "Dynasty mode" for years and years.
