Which reshader do you prefer?

Postby Hatchtopher on Tue Sep 28, 2021 11:36 am

There's so many great modders out there pumpin' out some great reshades. With so many options to choose from, I'm having trouble picking which one I really like so I ask you.....which reshade mod do you prefer ? (and more importantly...why do you prefer it?)

I'm currently using one by Scriptity which is pretty stellar. In 2k21, I really loved Mahood's remastered so I can't wait till they release it for 2k22. Scriptity's reshade kinda "darkens" the entire screen a hair compared to others I've tried and the images are very crisp although virtually all the reshades I've tried are very crisp.

I'm currently using Ungak's GOAT reshade (with some added effects) from 2k21 along with mostly Sportshub's RTX arenas and lighting, and a Mashup global of Anderson and Billows with psamyou'll male skin. The results are amazing. Really rich, colorful skin tones and lighting, maybe I'll post a few stills if that's ok with them.

yeah I was using Mahmood's remastered reshade for 2k21, think I'll stick with ungak this year but I can't wait for 22 remastered to drop :)

I don't like these reshades at all, regardless of game. Feels like it just increases blurriness and saturation and does not look good at all.

Yea I agree. And what is a reshader actually? I'm kind of new to it but I've downloaded one and I just don't see the big difference.

Now I did download one for 2k21 but I think it included the court, lighting, and global mod with it. Seems to me that the most important thing is getting the lighting correct.

The reshader I have now, has the players looking "reddish" in the roster editor screen but not on the court.

I am not a fan of most reshades for the same reasons mentioned above, I enjoy global mods far more combined with other mods.

An exception is Talismanics "next gen" reshade last year, which I felt looked pretty awesome.

Honestly, I'm a bit iffy on many reshades. A lot of them end up washing out the overall colors, which can make the game look a bit unappealing. There are some good reshades to try imo. Tailsmanic's next-gen V1 reshade is a good emulation of next-gen, and so is scriptly's next-gen reshade.

If I choose to use a reshade for modern teams, it's typically the KW-1.5 reshade. It gives an emulation of broadcast colors, which makes it feel like you're actually watching a real-life game. However, I'm all in for retro reshades. I see people making their own reshade presets, but not many make old school reshades. Any of the classic reshades from retro2k, sticky-fingers, and even the ones I've made give that extra appeal to the classic teams.

Yea that was it, Talismanics. Which was real good. I tried to put it in for 2k22 and the courts, crowd, and just about everything was black lol

For the folks that aren't a fan of reshapes, I completely understand. It's a matter of preference. BUT when the remastered is released by Mahmood, I highly recommend trying that. He changes a lot more than in game graphics. He redos menus, menu graphics such as players and colors, and a lot more. That would be my highest recommendation. Its not ready yet...I keep watching the forums for when it's finally available. When thats released, I'll turn off the other reshaders and see what they did with 2k22. Remastered was the superior graphics mod for 2k21 IMO.

The reshaders are an attempt to bring next-gen like graphics to the PC version because 2k doesn't care enough about its PC community to offer us a lot of the things they release on consoles. Take the scoreboard for example. Im not a coder but I can't imagine it would have been all that hard dor 2k to incorporate the next gen scoreboard into the PC versions but they were lazy and just gave us the old scoreboard. Thanks to the hard working modders, now we can have the new scoreboard and more.

I do like the mods which enhance the net physics and baskets, stadiums, and the aspects of the player such as skin and sweat. 2k does a horrible job on sweat. Theres a couple really good player-centric graphics mods available already.

The good news is...the game is still relatively fresh and the mods are already amazing. There'll be much more to come which will blow our minds.

Lastly...I'm glad that the mods don't affect the games FPS. With or without mods, I'm still able to get 80 to 165FPS in game and 165FPS in the menus and pre-game video clips (e.g. like the views of Chicago, Milwaukee, etc...). The age old debate of whether FPS over 60 really benefits this game rages on, but in my opinion, it really does. The player motions seem smoother. The shot meter timing seems easier to nail. Of course this is offline. Im pretty sure they cap the online game modes at 60FPS for fairness and bandwidth reasons.

Thats my two cents for the day. Its been fun hearing all of your different opinions and preferences.

felt Mahmood reshade a tad too purple-ish to my liking.
