Is There Smart Way (Easy Way) to Make Your Custom Roster Up To Date?

Mon Mar 15, 2021 6:40 pm

Over the past weeks or so, I have put in so much work and hours into:
  • Updating players' Cyberfaces
  • Updating players' headshots
  • Updating players' full body portraits

In essence, 2K make regular changes to their default 2K roster to follow the real world scenarios (which is awesome) for example:
  • The total revamped of Rockets' rotation i.e. Kenyon Martin Jr & Kevin Porter Jr racking up significant playing minutes.
  • Player recovered from injury i.e. Christian Wood etc

As you're fully aware, when making changes to either Cyberface, Headshot or Full Body Portrait for 2K Generic Players, we are required to make changes to either their FaceID, HeadShotID, PortraitID in NBA2K21 tools; for example: Brad Wanamaker or Kenyon Martin Jr (their IDs would be 1).

So I am thinking of starting again from scratch with the baseline of today's 2K roster, which I believe should have up-to-date rotations for Rockets and any other updates but what the smart way of ensuring all those players with ID = 1 will reflect in game?

I don't have much concern about the well established players' such as Jayson Tatum or Lebron James as the Cyberfaces, Headshots & Full Body Portraits will follow them.

But we know for Brad Wanamaker or Kenyon Martin Jr, their faces / headshots will turn back to generic (even the .png files are in the MODS folder).

I hope that I don't have to do every single one of them all over again, do I? :furious:

Chance is I will miss some if I am to do it all over again .. and not to mention if there is another update from 2K ...

I understand that I have to draw the line at some point (and just play the damn game) but curious to know the answer if there's any easy way in doing this. Apology for the long post.

Inevitably you will have to edit every player again. But you have two solutions for those players with a generic roster by default that will help you to do more quickly.
1. Upload each player's DNA from your previously edited roster. And then import the dna data about the players on the new roster.
2. Instead of exporting the DNA, you have the option to copy all data with 2KTools. If you are looking for a player you can select that option once you click edit player from the tool and then you will have to select the same player in the new roster and pour the information by copying and pasting. I will post some screenshots for you but it is relatively simple although if it is your first time I understand that you are not familiar with it. This is what I am doing to transfer my PCBasket roster from 2K20 to 2K21.
If it's any consolation I have to do the same process for over 2000 players lol.

Remember that this year the 2020-21 trade deadline is Thursday, March 25. You may want to start your roster after that. Lineups and rotations can change a lot. I always maintained my own roster for NBA 2K14. My starters and rotations were based on the entire season. I was not concerned with who started the last game or two due to injury or this season due to safety protocols. I did not worry about 10 day contracts, G League callups for a few games or signings late in the season. You can always use the latest roster whenever you want by downloading it.

That will really help. Kindly please do some screenshots so that we can follow and do some changes to the roster.

Cloning a player from one roster to another is a simple task with 2KTools. As you can see in the image below, if you click on "Edit Player" you can copy all the info of a player and pour it on another player belonging to a different roster. I could make a video about this if you need to see it in more detail.
