I installed DEST Roster 11.12.20 after v1.06 and now players like Jordan Poole and Michael Carter Williams don't have their updated braid hairstyles anymore. Even when I download the face/png files from another site, and move them to the mod folder they don't change the game. I even looked inside the installation files, and extracted the correct files using the manifest/extractor tool and it appears they are already installed within the game, but I do not see the files on the players. I.E. Jordan Poole has face id 7847 (from 2k tools by looyh and cyberface id list), I have downloaded the Shuajota backup for the face, which clearly shows the tied back dreads. I move it to the mod folder but he still has the afro. I go into the manifest, and see he already has the "png_dreads" files in the game, but just to be sure I extract them, and manually place them in the mod folder. I still can't see the new look. I did the same for MCW and it doesn't work?
What could be going on?

It may be because DEST roster is continually updated, but still uses an old build of the roster as a base (before updates)
Have you tried exporting the players DNA from the official updated roster, and importing it onto the player in DEST Roster? That may fix your problem and give him the look you want. Remember to do only the appearance and not appearance and attributes.

I haven't tried this but I don't understand why using the updated png/face files wouldn't update the faces in the game? They have the correct ID and from the manifest for example the png files for MCW are something like "png dreads" which is the new one, he didn't have dreads in the old cyberface he had. It's quite confusing, and I'm trying to isolate the issue. Originally I thought the installation folder might have the updated manifest for some reason and the game would have the old files, but if that was the case, it would fail in extracting the new files from the installation files.

Give the DNA thing a try as a workaround and let me know if it works.
There is also a strange bug with Russell Westbrook on the Rockets, where he has his flat top hair, but when you go into "shows/gear" or "accessories" the flat too disappears and is replace by braids.

Unfortunately I only have the cracked game, so I don't have access to the original files. All my patches/updates were all manual, but I haven't had any issues with the faces from updates, or manually moving mod folders into the mod folder. For some reason the game just refuses to acknowledge or load the files for some players.
As for the Westbrook think there was a bug like that with Jaylen Brown too where in the pregame (headphones/suit) videos he would have his high top, but then in game he would have his buzz cut hair.

Using cracked versions is against the NLSC rules, and is also technically illegal. It also compromises us getting PC releases in the future.
The game is on sale for $29.99 right now on Steam (50% off), I suggest buying the game if you want to use all the amazing mods the community has to offer, and also for peace of mind.
Zero tolerance policy here for cracked versions of the game.

Damn, I knew I should have waited. $30 bones is 1/2 off, and it's just December. Sales must be tanking on PC.

Not sure what they expected when they want to give console players next gen, and shaft pc players with the current gen version

I figured out that the cyberfaces work for the Official 2k Roster but not for the DEST roster which is strange because some of the v1.06 faces can be modded through the mods folder and work but some others like JP and MCW don't work. So when you use the official 2K roster MCW and JP have their dreaded hair, but when it uses DEST roster it has the default hairstyles (even though there are no mods for the faces installed). It's like the game is reading the face files from two different places based on the roster which is strange.

As I stated, using a pirated version of the game is strictly against the NLSC rules. And while you may feel shafted by 2K by not getting the next gen version on PC, you seem to still want the mods for it, and are actively playing it.
I was waiting for a response on the Steam sale I mentioned, to see if you would buy the game legally and follow the rules here. However, this response shows me otherwise.
Reminder to the community: cracked versions of the game are against the NLSC rules.
