Solution found! 2K77 dornas

Hey guys, long time no see! Hope you're all doing fine!

So, I just stumbled over the incredible 2K77 mod and tried it out, everything works as intended except the dornas files. I just drag and dropped the files as instructed, keeping the dornas folder separate within the Mods folder.

Downloaded the correct roster, played both "play now" and "my league" with several teams, still vanilla ads. Tried to check the file structure, created separate folders for the team IDs (000 for 76ers etc), still nothing.

I'm using Hook 0.7., no other mods installed except the 2K77 files. Tried some other donars for testing (perkoniwa's Playoff dornas), same result, they don't show up.

CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME?!?! I'm losing my freaking mind with these!

Just for clarification, I haven't modded this gen of 2K at all, but I think I have a general understanding of what each file is supposed to do, if I understand something wrong please tell me.

So, the files in the dornas folder are labeled 000.iff to 029.iff, one for each NBA team ID (76ers are 000 for example), the 000.iff tells the game which iff to use for a particular arena assigned to a team. In this case, 000 is the dornas ID for the 76ers stadium. By putting the 000.iff file into the mod/donars folder, it overwrites the game's vanilla 000.iff, so now the game looks at the new 000.iff for what iff's to use by checking the slotlist.jsos file within the 000.iff file.

Here the file tells the game to look for 3 files within the dornas folder, in this case the files are named "playoffs", "finals_05" and "1978_PHI" under specific circumstances, while "1978_PHI" is the one used for everything BUT finals and playoff games. This state is called "slot00".


SO, IF that's all given, as long as the donars ID 000 is assigned to the right court, THIS SHOULD WORK, NO? Well, that's exactly what's not happening for me, the donars are not overwritten, everything else works. I'm not sure why this isn't working, please, somebody has to know the answer to this

Just download the dornas mod whether it's twists or anyone else who made dornas for 2k21 or 2k20 that you plan to use and drop the the entire dornas folder inside the nba 2k21 mod folder


i see you mention perkoniwa's Playoff dornas. i can't speak for that. i never tried the playoff mods. i only use twists dorna and his work just fine.

I actually found the solution yesterday evening

So I noticed with other dornas mods, there are often copies of the base ID IFF, so for example for the 76ers dornas there is a base 000.iff file, telling the game what dornas to use, then there are multiple "copies" of that file named 000_eu.iff, 000_au.iff etc. Not sure why these exist, maybe its for localization? If anybody more familiar with dornas can tell me why these are actually necessary, I'd really like to know.

Well, copying the 2K77 base iff's and renaming them to eu/mx/au etc. finally made the art files show up. As far as the localization theory goes, I'm from Germany and downloaded the german version of 2K21, just changed the menu language. I'm not 100% sure this has anything to do with why this worked.

Are you able to screen shot what this looks like? is it a lot of files i'll need to rename?

the 2k77 dornas aren't showing up for me either

I made the dornas and didnt have issues, but i use to select english language in the properties of the game in steam.
