[Help] Stanchion File

Postby jk31 on Wed Nov 04, 2020 7:05 am

Again asking the great NLSC community for help:

After successfully editing dornas of my Indiana Pacers I tried to convert a stadium file that I downloaded last year for 2k20 for the use of 2k21. I got everything going but I am fighting with the stanchion to show up correctly.

Here you can see an image of the dds file that was included in the 2k20 stadium file (stanchion_padding_c.7defe79f80a23a90.dds). I had to open it in photoshop and save it again as dds BC1 (if I just copied it over, then NBA 2k21 would crash on loading a game). Note that the filename is exactly the same as last year, though when looking at the original file from this years s020.iff, that looks quite different.

(Left: Modded file from 2k20; Right: Original File from 2k21)

If I load up the game, you can see the modded texture but just "in the background" as if the game puts some other texture over it. Does anybody have an idea, whats going wrong here?

Just if anybody is interested: By opening up baskets.scne (inside of the stadium file s020.iff) and comparing it to the file of other stadiums, I saw that the entries for "stanchion_padding_c.tga", "stanchion_padding_n.tga" and "stanchion_padding_roughness.tga" were different in several values. I just copied them over from the other stadium file and now at least the stanchion texture shows up. Problem now: This "NBA League Pass" texture is still overlaying it and I don't know where this from. I replaced all other stanchion texture files (spalding logo, statefarm logo, nbatv logo) with empty, transparent images and it still shows up.

That is PlayoffLogoStack....... you have to make dds file empty. or you can create a empty square transparent image and save as PlayoffLogoStack..... with alpha channel.

Thanks, replacing that with an "empty" file did work and now the stanchion looks like it should! :)

For which team is it?

I found out by playing around a bit that in the pacers stadium file there is a file called "basket_stanchion_padding_upper." which on default is just empty. When i replace with any image, the image will appear exactly where the NBA logo on your screenshot is. But giving more detail about which exact team you want to edit would make it easier to track it down I think.

Thanks for your response. So here is what I'm doing. So I'm basically redoing most of the arenas in the game by taking the stanchion's file that was posted a few days ago and adding Twist's ad file (that replaces all the generic ad files with real life ones). I'm not doing anything to with the arenas like the Knicks or Lakers or Raptors because people like CujoMatty and others have done an incredible job with those already. The Stanchion file already has edited stanchion files for most teams but the following are missing:

Wizards
Clippers
Jazz
Magic
Mavs
Spurs
Rockets
Suns
Warriors

Ive run into the same issues with the Wizards and Jazz and I'm assuming I will with the rest of them. I'll give your idea a shot and update you.

There are some files in the ad file that you may need to update the dds format. Also, you have have to rename each file to match the 2k21 file numbers.

What do you mean you have to rename each file, to match the 2K21 file numbers? Please explain.

Twist's ad file is from NBA 2k19 and some of the ad files (like ad_sheet_final) have file names that dont match up with the files in nba2k21. In order to use them, you will have to rename the file made by Twist so that its the same as the ad file associated with the file in nba2k21.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. I don't have the foggiest idea on how to do it though. :?

you need to open up the Stadium file from 2k21 and Look up the file Name There. the base Name is exactly the same with just a different number at the end.

i have done it myself but dont want to Share the finished Version as i combined it with Stadium files from other authors.
