Hey man,

Yeah I don't think its just you. The shooting is broken

I havent played any park/mycareer modes yet but in myteam and playnow the shot meet doesnt move when you use the analogue. I had to turn shot aiming off to be able to see the meter move so that I can uknow judge my shot like in all previous games.

But i have not been able to make a 3 pointer yet with anyone who has a below 76 three point shot

if you bump the mid range and three point shooting sliders up to like 65 more shots go in and there are still misses so it balances out a little, but you can tweak that to your liking so not every shot goes in all the time

Anyone else seeing some weird physics glitches and ball trajectory glitches when shooting aswell?

I see it way too often not to notice it. Really hope 2K fixes it. It breaks immersion so much....

I've tried sending clips to 2K/Mike Wang a few times but not sure if they're seeing them...

A hotfix has come through. I haven't had a chance to try it as yet.

My biggest issue with the shooting - I'm primarily using the button at this stage - is that it feels like a lot of shots that should go in don't, while shots that should probably miss are going in for me. Specifically, releasing in the "Good" zone without greening feels lower percentage than releasing outside that zone, which runs contrary to the overall concept of the meter and timing mechanics. Obviously not all "Good" releases should go in (that's what Perfect/Green releases are for) and some poorly released shots should go in through sheer luck with the RNG, but it doesn't feel properly balanced. It also feels like the CPU is making a lot of the shots I'm missing, with similar non-Greened release timing.

I'm hoping that the hotfix cleans that up a bit. I'm fine with a learning curve and I think these mechanics can work, but the tuning feels off to the point where many of the shots I'm making I really don't think I should, while I'm missing shots that should be going in more often given the timing. I'm also hoping they can increase the size of the shot meter as promised.

The fact that the center of the meter changes with every shot is dismantling. I would understand if it were in static positions based on shot types like fades or off the dribble shots or was dynamic if you were contested. but just having it randomly bounce around each time means you have to decide when to shoot, look at the meter to adjust the angle, and still release on time. Unless hitting that center green perfect is splashing in the defenders face, or there is a heat-up mechanic to improve consistency, this just feels so backwards to what NBA players who can shoot have been showing for decades.

something is truly wrong with this game. i set it to pro went online play a friend and we was shooting good i felt good about the game. then i went to my team same difficulty and i couldnt shoot shit.i truly dont get this game. i was using the buttons both times. i also had shot aiming off. so then i play another game took the shot aiming off and did my team and only score 2 points. i never have been so frustrating with a nba 2k game ever. how the fuck do you shoot in this game

That's what I don't like about the stick aiming. NBA 2K17's approach was far superior, in my opinion.

I like how 2k says to be patient because greens are harder to make but I think they mean be patient whilst they fix a broken shot meter

The hotfix has made an improvement to the shooting and I understand that they dont want 50-70 rated mid/3pt shooters making them consistently like in 2k20 but they've gone the complete opposite. So hopefully they bring a better balance in later fixes

Apparently there's a further fix coming, including an increase to the size of shot meter. Beluba says they're still trying to figure things out now that the game is out in the wild, and that's not surprising with there being an overhaul to the shooting mechanics. Obviously opinions are divided because some people like the new system and feel it better rewards skill, but I do feel there are some issues in User vs CPU gameplay especially, so I'm all for them working out the tuning so that everyone - well, most everyone - is reasonably satisfied.

so i figure something out and tell me if im anyone experience this or not. mind u i am on pc. so i notice playing against a human online the shooting is perfect. im hitting shots. i also notice holding down both triggers and pulling down on the left analog stick works. now i went into the 2ku and did the same thing and i was getting it in and even got green. now here where the issues come, myteam and offline against the cpu the same thing i was doing doesnt work. i cant make no shots i cant score for sugar honey ice tea. so what im thinking is they maybe didnt turn on the right sliders for user vs cpu. what are your thoughts?

I think it's possible that they've overlooked the single player experience in the tuning, perhaps seeing it as a lower priority since the online arena is where most of the demographic is now. I wouldn't say for sure that it's absolutely happened, but there's a possibility.

Today was the first day I had to give up in an online game in as long as I can remember... I'm out here bricking wide open shots (with the shot meter perfect [not green though]) with the Heat while my opponent is making everything with Steph and Klay... I just put the controller down in disbelief and started playing Mario 64 on my other monitor.

Basically it felt like they were playing 2K20 and I was playing 2K21.

When I picked the controller back up in the fourth the score was 100-17. Curry finished with 102.
