Talk about NBA 2K21 here.

Here's something we used to do back in the day that was fun. Announce if/when you've got NBA 2K21!
My Steam key came through in the early hours of the morning, so I was able to install it overnight and am now getting into it. Of course, there was a concerning moment when my PC crashed after firing up the game and it looked like Windows was messed up, but it's all good now, and both the operating system and the game are running fine. My weekend suddenly looks a lot less dim and frustrating!
I left it a bit late to pre-order my PS4 copy, so that's not going to be here until Monday at the earliest. I did opt for the Mamba Forever edition so I could get the digital copy for Next Gen and save some money there. As I've said on the Podcast and whatnot, I'm not thrilled with that situation as I'm not thrilled with a lot of 2K's business practices, but knowing I'd be getting the games anyway for both collection and content creation, it was the most cost effective solution in the long run. I'm sure I'll make use of the other bonuses, too.

i got it, download finished around 6 am eastern time. one thing of note so far, the free agents list in myleague is loaded with cpu created players, and ranging from 59 over to i think 74 over, and missing lots of the players from last year, ie greg monroe, haven't played a game yet so i don't know of any gameplay differences yet, but there seems to be some new sliders available in myleague to tweak gameplay

Steam has this game listed under Psychological Horror.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Not the first time that tag's shown up for an NBA 2K game.

Yeah, the rosters are definitely messy given the circumstances. Once the current season is over and they're properly updated, I imagine stuff like that is going to be cleaned up.

Got it on PC.
I like some of the new MyCareer environments like Highschool and college. Still diggin through the game before I setup a myleague.
It does feel a little smoother to me

Undecided on getting the game

Can you give me more detail? In what is better than 2k20?
Thanks in advance

This seems to be one of the most difficult years for people deciding to get the game... I just want to play an NBA game right now and see no reason to get or not get it. I still have no expected date I'll be getting next-gen (probably next year)... for as much entertainment the NBA and 2K have given me over the years I should probably just buy it, even if it's hardly different and I don't even get a year out of it. Tony Hawk remakes only retained my interest for a couple hours.

Edit: But then again, hearing Andrew and Dee criticize the player movement is making me question if I should instead stick with the game that has had a year of patches and an identical roster...

Agreed, the gameplay is actually surprising @TGsoGood. I just got the game yesterday and I'm liking the dribbling system (there is less ball warping in the animations this year. 2k20 was crazy bad I couldnt even play it lol)
Maumau78 I would say 2k21 is 2k20 finally coming out of early access. Some things are still broken i.e. jump shots in general are almost impossible unless the shot rating is above 85 but these things should be fixed soon cos i think its a global issue.
edit: oh yes player movement feels mad slow for the bigger players (but I play offline modes mostly so sliders can fix that) but I feel there's far less sliding than in 2k20.
Your player won't do a 360 spin if you let go of the defense button which makes playing d look less ridiculous

Got the game...I bumped just the acceleration slider and left all on default....I did go into freelance,,,,movement seems a lot better.
I will probably switch sometime soon to 2k21 just becouse they get release timing back into player edit

Does the game still have speed break? Where it plays slow in the first few quarters and then all of a sudden the speed breaks, player's speed become very fast and you can just drive to the hoop at will?

There are still some issues with player movement and speed in general. My biggest gripe would be that AI players still feel a couple of steps quicker than user-controlled ones.
Sun Sep 06, 2020 7:21 pm
Is this the general impressions thread as well? I caved-in and got it digitally, spent about 5 hours with it (time sure flies)... played Play Now Online, Park and MyTEAM (TTO and Unlimited) as I always do. The #1 thing: players do not make outside shots; holy fuck. I hear they're already patching this today. I also noticed that you can't really take advantage of mismatches like you used to... not sure if this is good or bad. If a short player gets a good contest on a big in the post it most likely is not going in.
This definitely feels like a weird transitional game: the Neighborhood seems haphazardly put-together, uninspired and unfinished. I might not be ready for next-gen, but 2K sure is.

CPU always mirrors your input so fast.
Thats why i use unparallel sliders set and tweak CPU speed / acceleration / lateral quickness (-3 ~ -5)

Also, I was pleasantly surprised to hear something so offbeat in the game:

I really like the highschool gyms, the type of thing I wish the files for were in games like 2K11 and 14. Some really authentic College Hoops mods can be made with those.

It is 2020, the last new launch of the generation and I am sitting on a Got Next spot with all 5 other players and we are just waiting here glitched... fuck 2K; it's just a joke at this point.

PS4 Mamba Forever edition arrived today. Means I can jump online with Kenny, and get that free PS5 upgrade when the time comes. Probably would've got it on launch day if I'd pre-ordered it a couple of days earlier, but I really left it last minute this year.
