NBA 2K (PC vs Console)

Those who normally only play offline, would you pick playing 2K in PC or console?

I'm this close pulling the trigger in gaming PC but just wanting to find out if PC is the right platform for 2K21, next-gen engines in 2K21, 2K22 and so on.

So far what pushes me towards PC is because I do not play online; i am 100% pure offline player and modding capability is the one that pushes me closer and closer to gaming PC.

What is your take on this? If you're PC player, I want to hear what makes you want to play NBA2K in PC? and vice versa, if you're Console player, I also want to hear your perspective on it; why do you feel playing NBA2K is preferable in consoles?

I play offline because networks where i live are very bad on PC and haven't been good since 2k16, it's unfortunate when you compare it with EA servers on PC for other sports games, but that is consistent problem that 2k just doesn't care to fix, Region 1 and 2 seem to be doing better, so i buy the game and play offline and thankfully the updates, mods, keep you interested through the season.

But this year i didn't buy the game because it was not worth it, and i will wait to see the changes next year before buying again.

I truly hope EA produce a decent game for next gen next year, so i can invest my money away from 2k.

I would absolutely recommend playing on PC if you are mostly an offline player....

Not only because you can actually get better performance out of your PC than console (depending on the strength of your setup: slightly better graphics, better performance, higher FPS, etc), but you can also use all the amazing mods provided by the community.. and are still being provided by the community for past 2Ks on this gen as well.

Using custom scoreboards, updated faces/courts/jerseys, roster mods, etc never really gets old. It actually keeps the games fresh. You could also get into modding yourself, and a lot of solid tutorials exist to get you started.

The question you have to ask yourself is: how future proof do you want to make yourself? If you are looking at good gaming PC, most likely you will be ready for when 2K22 comes to PC as the PS5 port (I am assuming they will do this, just like they did with 2K15).

Last note: never discount the idea of using your PC like a console, as in... couch play. You can use xbox one wireless controllers on your PC and play on your TV. I have been doing it for years and I have all the comfort of console gaming, but on PC with all the benefits of playing on PC.

I use gaming laptops, and it is really the best couch play experience, i barely get up to change a cd or look for a remote control to change a channel, everything is manageable with a mouse

That is great if you are playing solo, and dont care about playing on a smaller screen.

My brothers and I play local co-op and local against, so the laptop is out of the question. We play on a 50 inch tv from the couch, no issue at all with the controllers (you just have to... pick them up). No changing CDs... as the games are installed without them. Literally just need to pick up the controllers and play. And why would we need to look for a remote control to change the channel? You brought me back to the old NES days where we had to put it on channel 3 (I think that's what it was), we use a mouse from the couch.

Different strokes for different folks. That setup may work perfectly for you, but it wouldnt work for me in the least.

Unless you are talking about hooking your laptop up to your TV via HDMI, that could work very similar to my setup, and you would still be using a wireless mouse from your couch like me, and possibly wireless controllers?

I agree my laptop cost me two kidneys and one leg in the black market

But i'm good for now till the RTX 3000 series super hits laptops, to make the next jump from Rtx 2080, but yes gaming laptops and gaming pcs highly recommended over consoles if can afford it.

Ever since I started on PC for 2K20, I really can't go back to console. Part of me could care less about the next gen version of the game because it's not on PC.
