Real Arena Defense Chants

Postby Kingbrown305 on Thu May 28, 2020 6:38 am

I'm new to the community and was wondering if there's a mod for real defense chants for each stadium for NBA 2k20. I know NBA Live had them on their game, just sick and tired of listening to the 2k sound effect of each stadium.

Yes, I think some of the modders on this forum are working on implementing real NBA Arena sounds. You can replace audio files using an NBA2K File Explorer. The chants, organs, PA Announcer file names begin with “eventmusic” or “paplayers”, and they usually have a corresponding number following it (e.g. eventmusic000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000.wav or something like that). I can verify that it’s worked for 2K19, but I have yet to do it for 2K20. I’d imagine it would be done the same way. I’ll play around with it and see if I can offer you a more in-depth explanation.

Hey man,

There are a couple people who have been asking similar questions lately. Check out those two threads for more info:

What you're asking about sounds pretty doable as long as you can recognize which sound clips is used in which arena. The chants are located in a folder called eventmusic. They are relatively long loops, which means that it would be pretty easy to find them if you sort the files by size - they have to be among the biggest ones. As far as I know the name of each file isn't related to an arena, so you would have to listen and ID them. However, with that step completed it would be pretty easy to replace them by other chants thanks to Looyh's hook. Do you already have some chants in mind that you would like to implement?

It’s harder to actually locate the sounds you want to replace than it is to replace them. You should download Looyh’s Music Converter and the NBA2K17 File Explorer. I’ll give you more details in the coming days.

Kingbrown305,

I don’t know if you’ve tried this out yet but let me know if this works for you:

1) Get an mp3 of the song or sound that you want to use and replace with in the game. First, put it in Audacity, go to the bottom, and change the project rate to 48000 Hz. Now, you must export it to your desktop and open the 2K Music Converter Tool. Drag the file into the black screen and it will convert it to the required file type for the game. Put it back on your desktop. But first, to see what sound you want to replace, you must follow the steps below.

2) Open the 2K File Explorer, go to the top, select “Preferences”, and look for archive “3A” or “3H” (I cant remember which one, just play around it with it until you find what it is). Save, go back to the top, and press “Load Archives”. If you see file names beginning in “newaudio...”, that’s the correct archive. Then, you must scroll down to “newaudio/eventmusic...” Those are the arena organs, defense chants, etc. Go one-by-one and right click on the file, hit “Export Archive”, and put it into Audacity to make sure it’s the one you want to replace.

3) Also, copy the file to your desktop and copy the name (e.g. 000000-000000-000000-000000-000000-000000.wav). Look for the new file that you are going to replace and made on your desktop. Rename it to the name you just copied, and change the ending to .wav.

4) Go back to the file explorer, find the file you’re going to change, and right click on it, selecting “Import Archive”. Choose your new file, and go back to the top menu, pressing “Apply Changes”. Now, just wait a few minutes, and you’re done. It’s now in the game!
