[HELP - Paint.NET] Save .dds files with the BC options

Postby Aston on Wed Oct 02, 2019 5:25 am

Hello !

I would talk about the last update of Paint.NET and the .dds files. They removed DXT5, the .dds option who i saved my recent work...
Now, i cant found a good option for saved my jerseys and some head player pictures who i worked on. I tried some save option, but nothing work and my game crash...

Here, the screenshot of .dds save file option:

If you know what i can do, thanks in advance! :)
(Yes, i tried BC3 and don't worked :( )

I use Paint.net for almost everything, so now you have me a little nervous.... I'll have to check it out when I get home.

Did you check to see if you could download prior versions of the program? (Like you can with blender)

Finally, i think i found it. I follow a tutorial for PS here: https://www.nba-live.com/forums/viewtop ... 8&t=107952

1. I saved my file in BC3 (Linear, DXT5). 2. I open the .TXT an i delete "Weight", "Height", "Format", "MIP" and "headersize". Now, its work for the head pictures.

Pretty weird yes. I think modding on Paint.NET is over. But for now, some things can be created:

Under BC3 (Linear, DXT5)
1. Watermarks and wipes work
2. Portraits work if u delete this line:

3. Nothing for the jerseys edit. I'll continue to found a way.

It's just a new naming convention. BC3 = DXT5. DTX1 and DXT3 also have new names.

Hi guys, i'm bumping an old thread because I also have pretty much the same issue.

I'm trying to replace player full portraits using PNG files that I converted to DDS (BC3 - DXT5) with paint.net.

I've created the IFF file with the correct names and all, and put it in the waigua folder. The thing is that the player picture doesn't show, I just have an empty portait showing.

Could it be because of a bad conversion of the DDS file ? I tried modifying the TXTR file, deleting some lines but still doesn't work.
