NCAA Real vs. Fictional

Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:17 am

I see there's clearly a desire for fictional NCAA mods but I'm wondering what the real roster world is like. Is there a particular 2K game that gets most often updated? I don't see a real roster for 2K20.

The game updated the most will always be the most recent (So in this case, 2K20)

However, 2K13 and 2K14 (mostly 2K14) still have a lot of updates going on via the URB, college rosters etc because they are so modding friendly (easier file system to work with, etc)

But if you wanted the most PLAYERS to play your mod, you would probably want to go with the current game.

Ok, but I was referring specifically to NCAA rosters. Real vs Fictional. And in 2K20, there are none with real players. So that's why I thought, maybe it's a known thing that only one or two games in particular actually get updated for NCAA teams.

Ahh, I gotcha.

Skillzfromthe6 usually does a "REAL" college roster on PS4, but he used the in-game player creator because he is on console.

Otherwise, I have not seen anybody attempting a college roster with real players (And obviously none out there right now with real cyberfaces). I think those projects are bears, they are massive with so much work required. You have no in-game players to work with, every cyberface would need to be made or generated via the create a player tool (Which you know), all arenas and floors would need to be done, same with logos and all the ratings/tendencies, etc So, that's frustrating i'm sure for those who love the college game. I feel like in order for somebody to really tackle a roster like that, they would need a BIG team of modders who could dedicate the necessary time and resources into the mod.

I was thinking about downloading NCAA Basketball 09 or College Hoops 2K9 for the PS3 emulator, because I have the physical copies for the console. Even though I am an NBA guy, sometimes it's fun to throw on college video game titles.

But yeah, I know that a couple college mods have come out recently for 2K14 (One that I know was real players, one that was "All time teams", and another that was with fake teams). But unfortunately on this gen your options are pretty limited.

Did you mean the last one of each? Unfortunately, NCAA 10 has no decent rosters right now for 2019-20, and CH2010 has one but I don't know how complete it is. The thing is, even with it not being entirely complete, the actual NCAA commentary and experience is too good to ignore. Another person made 2019-20 rosters for March Madness 2006 which are quite good. Very good game!

Honestly 2K14 would be fine. I'll have a look at those.

For college mods, I would agree.

I've seen some amazing work over there in the 2K14 modding section.
