Solid playcalling tip. 
As far as the shot meter/shooting mechanics are concerned, aside from watching the meter and/or learning the players' animations - which is certainly advisable - you can also use the rumble feedback as a guide. When the controller starts to vibrate, you're reaching the perfect release point, so it can be used to get Green releases far more consistently.
