Will we actually get Women in NBA2K20 ?

Playable Female characters and NBA 2K
By now we have seen the tweets from the WNBA players about being in the next 2K.
In my own speculation,I don't think 2K will deliver any WNBA teams next year.
I think 2K is going to have a few WNBA players scanned into the game so that they can have a CF for their online accounts.
If we are lucky maybe they will even show up in a mycareer cutscene but I don't think we are really getting playable female characters for NBA 2K20 outside of modding.
At this point NBA Live has already done it so it isn't groundbreaking to include WNBA in some form.
Last year were told G-league was back in the game and look how that turned out.

2K had youtubers get scanned and tweet out their cyberfaces but you couldn't play as them (without modding). I think that is how it will be with the Women face scans. I don't think 2K will get it right but I hope they do.

I want to know if you guys think 2K will actually have playable female characters in the game. I'm just basing my expectations off of past experience with 2K.

There will always be these gimmicky things from 2k. They want to “innovate” without actually putting in effort. In last-gen 2k you could play in the G-League and work your way up. Now, it’s thrown in as a scripted story. They included games overseas in a scripted fashion. They included college game in the past...in a scripted fashion. It’s all a bunch of fluff to put on the back of the box without having to do the heavy lifting of including those avenues as legitimate forms of play.

They same thing is now happening with Madden. They are including college teams as part of the new scripted story. It’s basically a cash grab to appeal to the niche, diehard audience of that market (NCAA, China, etc.) without having to fully implement that aspect. So long story short, I doubt 2k even goes as far as Live did in allowing you to play WNBA matches because that would require them to put in actual effort. They want to do the minimal amount of additions each year because they now have a formula between MyPlayer and MyTeam that literally prints money.

Even though NBA Live has done it with WNBA Play Now and the WNBA players in The Streets World Tour and Court Battles, they haven't fully capitalised on it with a WNBA season/career mode. Depending on what they're doing in NBA Live 20, NBA 2K20 could still beat them to the punch by doing that.

I assumed that 2K would be doing something like that when I heard that they were scanning in WNBA players, but it never actually occurred to me that it might just be for the MyCAREER story. It's also possible they might be included in MyTEAM, which would be different (the WNBA players aren't in Ultimate Team yet). It'd be a wasted opportunity if they weren't playable in some form so I feel like they will be, though it might not be through the inclusion of full WNBA teams.

but we all know that with SJW around, a woman in mypark with 99 overall would be as quick/powerfull as a man, which is physically speaking impossible.

I suppose it is a long shot. Again, it's not like NBA Live has done it yet with LUT, so you may be right. It just seems a waste not to have them playable in any capacity.

I hope they cap these women physical stats to half the avg stats of men players

If realism was what they were going for in The Playground, we'd all be capped at 60 Overall with no access to the crazy dunk packages. MyCAREER and the connected modes aren't trying to be sim anymore.

The issue there is they said that after NBA Live 18, and didn't do anything with it in NBA Live 19. When it comes to game modes, it's been a case of "next year" for too many years.

Thought it was after 19 released. Oh well, still something I'd hope they manage. To be fair to them they did add female chars in Live 19, so it would be logical to get the missing feature for them - The League. Fingers crossed.

I think it's the next step, and hope they take it as they continue to flesh out the modes. The fact that they haven't done that yet made me think that 2K might swoop in and beat them to the punch in that regard, since 2K's other modes are already quite fleshed out.

Not sure about MyCareer. I could see them doing it like Live 19 and having female chars for online play.
Call me cynical but simply because there's solid amount of new cosmetics they could put up behind VC.

It'd be better than nothing, or just using their faces in the MyCAREER story, no doubt. As long as it's in addition to the retro content and not a replacement for it, I'm in favour. As you said, it'd be something new.

I remember I started doing classic WNBA teams roster for NBA 2K14 but never finished because it was too much to do every team and player from scratch plus scale every single rating to an appropriate measure for WNBA.

Extremely good chance. I worked at a startup once and this is precisely the kind of thing that makes the difference between a site that webhosts and adspace buyers run from like the plague and one that they're ok with and continue to buy adspace on.
Plus, it's infantile. Seriously, people who do nude mods need to grow up.
