Is this for the pre-orders only? I'm reading the regular release date is September 11th right?

The 20th Anniversary Edition comes out on the 7th, the Standard Edition comes out on the 11th. If we're going to do the countdown thread, best to post the rules and an official timer so that the game can be played properly.

Interesting how this is one of the first years in awhile where a countdown thread wasn't kept going. Kinda shows off how little excitement there is surrounding the game.

Possibly, but they seem to have fallen out of vogue, even in previous years where there was more hype and excitement. It seemed like people were losing interest in playing the countdown game, so I didn't bother creating the topics and promoting them this year.

It might be for the best. By the end, a lot of people weren't really playing the game properly. Even when there were a bunch of players with common numbers available, people were posting players whose jerseys added up to the number of days remaining, or two players side by side that made up the number (say, 1 and 5 for 15), or jumped the gun and didn't follow the actual countdown. People grumbled about others being sticklers for the rules, but I think the proof was in the pudding as far as most people being turned off by the game not being played properly and becoming a complete mess.

That said, the wariness about this year's game doesn't help matters.

As I said, I think most of us are just over playing the game, if nothing else.
