Each year, Greenmangaming used to send a voucher few days before the release. Perhaps you should wait for this opportunity.

My last preordered 2k game was 2k15. I dont trust 2k anymore. I bought 2k17 when 2k18 came out, i played few games only because of Dee mod. Uninstalled few days later. I think im not alone with my observations.

On PC all Versions release at the same time. It never happened that you can play earlier because you buy some stupid Version.

This is the first year they locked the "early tip-off" behind a higher edition. Steam says that clearly and GMG as well.
For the rest of these grey market shops you never know if they get the codes for time for early unlock even if you go for the higher edition this year.

The Keys are coming from 3rd World Retail-Boxes. I bought NBA2K there the last few Years and a few other Games and they always have pretty much the best prices and never had any problems. Had to cancel a few Orders and everything went fast without problems.
If I buy 2K19 I most likely buy it from them.

You should get it in time for the Early Tip-Off Weekend. The Standard Edition won't get sent through, or at least won't unlock, until the following week.
Unless of course, you're going grey market (cdkeys and so on). No guarantees there, but if you buy through Steam, Green Man Gaming, and so forth, you should get your Steam key in time.

it's $99 on the landing page, $99 in my cart, and $99 in checkout. how you got 55% off on a preorder item is beyond me.

I really doubt thats how it works on PC. Didn't they try that crap in the last few Years? On PC all Versions always unlocked at the same time. I would be very surprised if that was not the case this Year.

In previous years, the Early Tip-Off Weekend was a pre-order bonus across all versions of the game, so they were meant to unlock at the same time (and did). This year, Early Tip-Off is exclusive to the 20th Anniversary Edition, so in theory it will unlock early while pre-orders of the Standard Edition will have to wait. Whether it all goes smoothly and to plan is yet to be seen I suppose, but that is the difference this year.

Figures, they unlock the version that costs $100.00 first. Well, I guess I'll have to wait, not paying 100 bones for it. What is the major difference between the standard and anniversary version anyway?
