NBA 2K19 Pre Order

Talk about NBA 2K19 here.

NBA 2K19 Pre Order

Postby Dee4Three on Thu Sep 06, 2018 8:11 am

I'm looking on Steam, and the $100 option is still present, with a disclaimer that the game unlocks 4 days early.

However, it says "available September 11th" under the title during checkout.

Am I going to get screwed if I pay the $100 right now? Like, am I not going to have access 4 days early?

Getting conflicting messages.

Hi Dee, I don't know this year but last year, I pre-ordered the special edition of 2k18 and was able to play it 4 days early despite the having the regular release date on the Steam page. I am hoping that it is the same this year.

Looks like you bought it already.

Yes, said same thing last year. I've already got it pre-loaded too.

I'm currently pre-loading the Standard Edition. Interested to see if it ends up unlocking at the same time, despite not being intended to. If not, no big deal. I'll just focus on NBA Live 19 this weekend, and get into NBA 2K19 next week.

I bit the bullet and purchased the $100 version. I will be upset if it's not available on the 7th, as I still technically pre ordered it (and it was still advertised that way on steam).

let us know what happens. i grabbed the standard version as well from voidu, but i'm getting an 'invalid code' error on steam. i thought the error was just because pre-loading wasn't available yet for the standard edition, but now i know that's not true. i emailed them... hope this gets straightened out.

i actually got it working myself. apparently voidu sent me two keys - i thought that it was just one long (30 digit) key to enter all at once. so one key was to activate the game itself, and the other was for the preorder extras i guess. they should have made that clear, or maybe i'm just a scrub. i've only ever bought from gmg besides steam, and they would always send me one long key so this was odd to me.

anyway, let's hope for an early standard edition release.

I bought my key from the official 2K Store and it was actually the same thing, which threw me at first. Just to further complicate matters, the second set of fifteen numbers and letters was actually the key for the game, while the first set of fifteen was for the pre-order bonus. The info definitely could've been laid out better in the email, though there were no problems once I figured out what was going on with the keys.

Same with voidu Key(s), but Steam is explicit.

I pre-ordered the 20th Anniversary Edition a few weeks ago, specifically so I could get the extra VC. I hate to admit that I support that, but as someone who doesn't have a large quantity of time to game, I found last year's grind to be ridiculous, and ended up buying VC throughout the course of my playing. I figure if I'm going to end up buying it anyways, might as well start the game with a large amount.

I'm pre-loading the game right now....hoping they let us play it at midnight.

I read something about our MyPlayer starting out at a 60 rating. Does anyone know how much we'll be able to immediately bump him up to if we have the necessary VC?

Starting OVR: 60
Maximum OVR before you have to play to unlock cap breakers: 85
VC needed to upgrade to 85 OVR: ~190.000

You get 100.000 from the edition bonus.

I'd estimate the VC will get you between OVR 75 and 80. Depending on what upgrades you choose (speed is notoriously expensive) and also keep in mind the cost goes up progressively so you'll get past halfway point.

I doubt you find many people here that care about the Pay2Win Modes. 95% here will play only MyLeague.

Thanks for the info man, I appreciate it.

Hadley88, I don't consider myself a "Pay2Win" guy. More like a "Pay2Enjoy" guy. Much has been written about last year's grind and how brutal it was. I've been playing basketball video games for over 35 years now, which means I'm an old guy, as well as a husband and a dad with not enough time to devote to endless grinding. (And even with VC, you still have to grind.) So yes, I pre-purchased VC. I don't like supporting 2K's method of $$ grabbing, but I do have the money to spend and I'd rather enjoy the game to it's fullest.

I heard the standard version ( which I ordered) won't be available until Sept 11th. Hope I'm wrong, but not what I hear.

Anyone order from the 2Kstore? I haven't gotten my confirmation email with my code. Just wondering how long it takes if someone else has already gone that route.

Unless Steam messes up and the Standard Edition is released early, that's how 2K intends it to be this year. The Early Tip-Off Weekend - previous available for pre-orders of all versions - is (intended to be) exclusive to the 20th Anniversary Edition of NBA 2K19.

My Standard Edition is still pre-loading, it's already the 7th here in Australia. Should know in a few hours if it's unlocking earlier than intended, I'm guessing it's going to be next week though.

Preordered the deluxe physical LeBron edition from Best Buy and it got delayed. I was also super hyped for the Nintendo Direct today and that got delayed as well... at least I get to play Spider-Man tomorrow I guess.

I got my LeBron version key from CD Keys. Anyone use them before? Wondering if they'll send the key at midnight or before (East Coast time)?

It's about 10 mins past midnight here, and my game still says unreleased.

This always happens.

My Standard Edition has finished pre-loading, but it's not unlocked yet unfortunately. My guess is that it'll be on the 11th as planned, but hopefully for those of you who did pre-order the 20th Anniversary Edition, it will go live today as intended.
