EA Layoffs 670 workers, moves away from licensed IP

We are also sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry. This greater focus allows us to drive creativity, accelerate innovation, and double down on our biggest opportunities — including our owned IP, sports, and massive online communities — to deliver the entertainment players want today and tomorrow.

RIP NBA Live.

It does say that sports and IP they own will be a priority, so I don't know that this has shut the door on NBA Live, or even a new NBA Jam (which would arguably be the best move). At the same time, it's not exactly encouraging either, so I'm not expecting anything until such time as there's an announcement (or at the very least, a clear teaser).
