As the article notes, the additions pale in comparison to absentee players like Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Moses Malone, and Rasheed Wallace, but it's good to see the rosters being filled out nevertheless.

Just for the record, King, Williamson, Posey, and Jones were already on those teams.

Well, it's a nice addition, but I still dont understand why 2K, and more globally NBA, doesnt have a complete agreement with retired players.
Barkley's proposal has sense on this subject, but in my opinion, it should be a NBA global deal with the retired players.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure 2K already has a deal with the retired players association. If you look at
this list and compare it to players who are included on the classic and all-time rosters, it doesn't look like any living players are left off.
Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, and Rasheed Wallace are not members of the NBRPA, so they have to be negotiated with individually.
EDIT: It looks like there are a few exceptions on recent classic teams.

It's up to the individual players whether they want to enter into that agreement and join the Retired Players Association. 2K's hands are tied in that regard, but with the big increase in revenue from microtransactions, you think they'd take Barkley up on his offer.

It's even pretty strange, because some players appear one year, dissapear the next year.
For example, does it mean that a guy like Byron Russell is now a member of the Retired Players Association ? And he wasnt last year ?

It's possible. Or circumstances changed and they were able to come to terms with him again.
A few years back, they had to remove Dr. J, but came to an agreement with him post-launch and added him in a roster update.
