No Euroleague teams in 2K18

I'm sure this will be a disappointment to some people (and some modders) but I'm OK with it because the Euroleague teams were never properly supported. The rosters were always out of date, the ratings weren't accurate, 95% of the faces were generic and awful.

When the license was first announced I envisioned at the very least being able to play a season with stat tracking and the like, but it wasn't anything like that. I mean the idea was good but the implementation was so half baked that it just felt a bit cynical, like it was only there so you could slap "Features Euroleague!" on the packaging.

It's not that simple, but Ill probably do that.

It's more complicated. I used the players from the euro teams that had no stats to overwrite. It gave me like 100 players to use. If you use created players to overwrite, they call them by nicknames like "Champ" or "The Boss".

Hoping the new tool being talked about in the 2K17 sections allows me to completely overwrite players.

It's always a shame to lose content, especially when there are ramifications for modding, but I'd say their agreement simply expired and wasn't renewed. As I understand it, the Euroleague license is pretty expensive, so it's possible 2K chose to use those funds to expand the historical NBA content instead (it is NBA 2K, after all). They also have telemetry data that indicates which modes are being played the most, and which teams are being used the most. That data is a factor in modes and content being removed, so it's possible that the usage of the Euroleague teams didn't justify the costs, especially if the asking price for the license increased (also a possibility, given NBA 2K's sales and brand dominance).

Absolutely. It still is a shame to lose that content, but I'd suggest there are valid reasons based on their telemetry data and gamer feedback.

Not arguing with you guys because I know the percentage is still small, but there are a lot of European players that are buying the game for those Euroleague teams. They use roster editing to update everything and that's what they roll with the whole year. Check youtube, there is a lot of content on some channels where you will see Euroleague matches exclusively in different European languages. I bet those people won't get the new game and stick to 2K17. But as Andrew has mentioned, it's NBA 2K afterall and NBA teams (current, historic, all-time greats) should get that extra content over any Euroleague/ National team.

It's definitely unfortunate for them, and like I said, it is a shame in general to see any additional content fall by the wayside. I think the general popularity of those teams, weighed up against the cost of the Euroleague license, would have been the deciding factor here.

Yeah, it's far more likely be financial reasons rather than technical ones, i.e. the cost of the Euroleague license vs. how much the teams are actually being used, as per the telemetry data at their disposal.

Hopefully the files will still be in 2K18 solely for modding purposes like adding new cyberfaces. However, this destroys my plan off adding new historic teams and troll teams to the rosters.

Ouch...I preordered game, didnt know about this. Shit. EuroLeague duels with friends were something we did regulary. Bad move 2k, bad move. I made mistake ordering game. Bad luck.
