Yeah I saw this. I love it when they have classic players as cover athletes... hopefully we get a bit more retro content in 2K18.

It's a similar pack to last year, basically.

We'll be getting into it more on this week's Podcast, but one of the first things Arcane pointed out to me this evening was that the high amount of pre-order bonus VC probably means there's going to be a lot of grinding again. MyTEAM pack prices probably won't be any different either, though I like the order of weekly packs for pre-ordering. It doesn't look like they're holding any teams back as pre-order exclusives either, which is a much fairer decision.

I doubt there's going to be much in the way of new or enhanced retro content, but it would be a pleasant surprise if they did.

By looking at those jerseys in that image I can already see that the jersey textures and the jersey models haven't changed....

The cover actually looks nice. I still hate this gaming generation concept of pre-order.

I imagine it was easier to get Shaq since they already have a financial agreement. I'm sure they just gave him more money and will let him advertise his shaq brand in the game.

He also remains a prominent name in the sport, and it would seem they're now going for a different legend each year for the special edition.

Why not Shaq? Dude is one of the, if not the most, dominant player ever.

I hope he feels different in the game. His body type is also off, he's got this slender body and a big head in NBA 2k17.





Not to mention him barely being able to back down anyone. I played with him twice and just figured it was pointless. I get the game is guard oriented now but damn. I would like to drop Shaq in the current era and see how he does...but I can't. I've got Draymond Green bodying him up and swatting his shots. C'mon man..

Ugghhh. Back to the grind. The game wasn't enjoyable for me until mid-November. Even though I can afford the VC, I just refused to take shortcuts and also reward 2K for up-selling game currency to us. Which is why I think hackers/cheaters in 2K need to be stripped naked and lashed publicly.

So, based on 2k's track record the past 3 or 4 years, the excellent customer service, the way they listen to the user base and fix problems so quickly, the way they get the servers humming along without a glitch, the great job they do dealing with on-line cheaters, etc., who is going to pre-order?

I expect I will, but that's because I'm going to get it anyway (I kind of need to, what with running a site about basketball gaming and all), and I might as well get some freebies for doing so. That aside, I wouldn't be advocating that others pre-order so soon, or at all if they have any doubts.
