A summary of the blog is as follows...

• There's a new mode called "Pack and Playoffs". It's essentially a draft mode, in which you open packs and get a new lineup each round. It's luck of the draw, so sometimes you'll end up with superstars, while other times you'll end up with an underdog lineup of role players. The Playoffs consist of four rounds, each being a best of seven series. You can also use VC to hold onto players for the next round.
• Coaches will play a bigger role in NBA 2K18's MyTEAM. New "system proficiency tech" (which will also be utilised in other modes) determines which of eight systems a team will run, and will have an impact on your MyTEAM's performance. The idea will be to match suitable players to your coach's system.
• "Super Max" is a new online mode with a salary cap and season gameplay. At the start of each round, users will need to build the best team possible under the set salary cap, and then compete in full length games.
• New Strategy Cards can be played during timeouts to add temporary boosts to your Points of Emphasis. Coaches also have different gem level cards this year.
• For chiefly offline gamers, Schedule Challenges will let you play through a 30 game schedule for all 30 NBA teams. They will all be available on day one, so no need to unlock them.
• The new All-Time teams have a presence in MyTEAM by way of All-Time Domination.
• The Auction House has been enhanced with real-time postings, reserve bidding, and the ability to sell stacks of items.
• MyTEAM Goals have been added, rewarding gamers for exploring the mode. The Collections menu has also been made easier to browse.
• Other enhancements include more Dynamic Duos, a reference to find a player's Dynamic Duos partner, Badge replacement, bigger boosts for shoes, and an updated interface.

Thoughts:

Trailer was a miss. Really not into this style of trailers.

Now this is what I want to see. Should translate to overall gameplay if I got the previous news right.

The 2 new MyTeam modes are both online, so I guess that's a hard pass for me.

I agree, the trailer was pretty cringe-worthy, with the effects on the narration and the use of the word "lit" (especially with the stamp). Maybe I'm just a jaded, cynical 30-something, but that tone just doesn't appeal.

As for the information itself though, I did like what I saw, heard, and read. Solid all around, especially with the new offline content. The coaching tech they mentioned is definitely worth noting, as it'll come to play in other modes as well.

I mean, the only thing I was hoping for was a two player option (Like someone can play on the same team as you).

However, they would need to rename it to "OurTeam"... or something.

I'll probably use Live 18 for Ultimate Team and NBA 2K18 for everything else.

Those roughly 900 offline games ....sounds interesting to me.

Still can't decide so far ..but 2k is back on track for me.

Never said it was better. The gameplay itself would make it not better for me.

However, I havn't really played MyTeam since NBA 2K15. It's not a mode I frequent. A change of pace is nice sometimes. It will give me the opportunity to experience Live more, it may help me critique it more, and it will be a new challenge.

While it's not as important as the challenge modes and so forth, I do like the new designs of the cards. Very reminiscent of actual trading cards, which is nice.

Looks like there is a new class between ameythest & diamond. I'm not a gem expert so can't tell what the pink one is.

I don't like design of new cards, last year looked better.

It's good they've got new features in the mode but can you play some of online mode like cap one with just friends online?

Am I the only person that is anti-shoe cards? If only I knew wearing a specific pairs of shoes IRL would give me such boosts

In the end the mode to me will come down to its integrity. All sorts of moments cards need to go.

I think I like the design because it's very reminiscent of one of the series of cards I collected back in the 90s.

I don't think I've ever used any of the boost cards, shoes or otherwise. With a stacked team, I've never really felt the need.

I just sell the shoe cards. It gets annoying when you pull shoe cards. I'd only be OK with them there was a collection reward (eg complete Jordan collection get maybe a throwback MJ rookie card.

Agreed, it is reminiscent of some of those 90s cards. Hope I don't draw a lot of Adam Keefe's again.
