2009 Season Roster - 2009 & 2011 Released (still WIP)

I recently got the itch to make some rosters for 2k17. This was one of my favorite games ever. I have a "finished" 2011 roster and a WIP 2013 season roster, but I've put in a lot of time into this 2009 roster lately. I've been having a blast with the game.

A couple things to note:

-This has been more of a personal project, so the level of quality and detail is not up to the same standard I try to hold myself for my 2k20 projects. Whenever I end up releasing this, it will likely not be 100% perfect and accurate (tendencies, ratings, artwork).
-This will likely be more of a "minimalist" mod. I've added quite a bit of portraits and courts (as well as a few jerseys and cyberfaces), but this utilizes quite a bit of the default assets in the game.
-This has been more of a fun passion project on an older game that wasn't always intended for release, but I figured some people could have some fun with it if I release.

2k17 actually doesn't have any versions of the New Orleans Hornets jerseys, so despite this being primarily a "minimalist" roster, I couldn't help but create their jerseys. The Pelicans jerseys are just so far away from that look and it bugged me





Here is me running through the WIP roster. As you can see, I've got a decent amount of players still left to make. I have not decided how deep I will make each roster, I was thinking at least 9 or 10 players per team. I won't be doing ages or contracts (reminder that this is just a fun side project ). Ratings not finalized.

this looks great already, i whish you, sometime in the future possibly, could "convert" your 2k20 mod into 2k17 too... (i couldn't help myself not saying this )

I've been a bit sidetracked with other things to be honest, but here are some more screenshots. Some courts don't let me override them for whatever reason, even with the modded folder (a couple examples are the Clippers and Hawks). Does anybody have a solution?

I remember having a black issue with some courts when the fXXX.iff file > 6Mb
i had to downsize the main floor texture.

Perhaps you could also try to assign another fXXX file.

No, tools for this game are very limited.

Sometimes official court updates ended up messing with/still overriding the modded folder, so that might be what's happening here.

I use a cheat table that is incredibly easy to use, and it allows you to change team names, court/stadium assignments, and a lot more. I will PM you but also release it in the tutorial section at some point soon.

It was originally made by Ksmiz and he released it on here. So I will give him credit. It only works with the December.exe

Here's the solution: viewtopic.php?f=226&t=102385
for clippers floor, use hex editer to open sync.bin of 2k17, then search for f006.iff, then replace f006.iff with f999.iff , finally to save the sync.bin file that we just edited.
then we are able to bypass the sync.bin and override it with our modded f006.iff

It's been a while since I've updated this. These rosters aren't truly done as they are still missing some players, logos, jerseys, and courts. That being said, I still think they are usable in PlayNow. I don't know if or when I'll actually go in and create the missing artwork necessary to make these complete.

Even in the incomplete stage, I've had a ton of fun with 2k17 and the retro rosters I made for it, so I figured I'll release them for people to enjoy or even if someone wants to try finishing them.

Disclaimer: This mod utilizes some cyberface, jersey, portrait and court assets from Dee4Three's UCTR. It goes without saying I highly encourage you to download that mod for NBA 2k17 as well

I apologize, I'm not super knowledgeable about trouble shooting this game. I would try downloading Dee4Three's SYNC.BIN file he's provided in the past. It has been the solution for many others corruption issues. It goes in your Local folder for 2k17

I was able to get it to work with the sync bin you provided, but Steve Nash is blank, and Kevin Garnett is wearing short shorts? Is this correct?

The short shorts definitely doesn't seem right. Did you have any existing mods installed?
