Every skinny dude looks weird AF. Isn't there a way to modify them all at once? Since they seem to share the same body model..

That's not how the game works.

Every player has his own body model file?

Re: Modding Progress

Mon Oct 03, 2016 2:38 pm

Yep. The cyberfaces in next gen are the entire body from head to toe.

Great progress here Greg and company!

The fact that we already have a blender plugin is huge.

Try to swap Giannis' body with Joakim Noah's for example.
Not sure if height matters, but these two are the same listed height.

Lebron IMHO looks really bad in terms of body shape in 2k16-17

Every player having a unique body shape is fascinating to me. So much potential there---unfortunately by default most of them look bad.

Yes that's what I thought. Like, it's a huge waste of resources to have the same body model over and over again, when the game is constructed in such a way that would allow each player to have his own.

Waste of resources describes alot of things about next gen 2K. Just waiting for them to put it all together and really make something amazing with the tools they have.

Question:

My draft roster is very authentic, I'm proud of it. But the one thing I couldn't do is change the shoes of the players.... is there an easy way to do this? And what about socks?

You mean shoe affiliation lock?

Yeah, so the players that I placed into my roster... the shoes are locked (I overwrote fake euro players). So for example, Ralph Sampson looks perfect with all of his accessories (even sock length), but hes wearing the Kobe Zooms....

Limnono can swap accessories AFAIK.

Thanks,

Just thought I might share this, there are only four body types this year. Four.... compared to the eight they had last year. I really don't why this decision was made....

From left to right:
MyPlayer Bodytype, Fat Bodytype (Zach Randolph, Shaq), Muscular Bodytype (LeBron, Dwight Howard), Skinny Bodytype (Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, pretty much every player in the league that isn't considered average build.)

Wow... a little shocked that they went backward. That goes back to last gen 2k14.

Well this would explain why 2k16 png files weren't working in 2K17, mainly because they've redone the body types this year and scaled back a lot. For what reason... I guess we'll never know.

Re: Modding Progress

Tue Oct 04, 2016 7:45 am

This also means I can't fix Paul George, as there are no body types in this game that fit his body this year.

Re: Modding Progress

Tue Oct 04, 2016 7:51 am

The "scanned bodies" was supposed to be such a big deal... not only was that not even a thing, but they took away half the body types in one year.

I like this game a lot more than 2K16, but that's a little discouraging.

Re: Modding Progress

Wow, that sucks. :(

Nowitzki and Porzingis for example look buffed, it makes no sense. But they would look too skinny with the Durant's body model. Chris Bosh looks like he's about to collapse due to starvation, but he would probably look too strong with the average body model. Well, at least we can edit them individually.

2K have being doing this for years. I found this video from Jao talking about removal features. I thought it was quite interesting.

Removing features, ability, control, is how Madden fell down the slippery slope for nearly a decade.Would hate to see this happen to 2K Sports. Or has it already become?

Has anyone taken notes as to which archive is represented by which team in the 2k16 explorer?
Knicks being Bulls and so on.

I wouldn't bother worrying about that for much longer.
