Dee I think alot of people over the past two years have checked out or given up on Next Gen 2K Editing & Classic Rosters----when people start to see releases, they will be back. Many are like me, unwilling to even play or buy next gen 2K until we have the capabilities you are all trying to give us. So we only can go off the images we see posted on here.

The player editing screen is gorgeous, with the full length player image, what an upgrade from old gen 2k, I'll say that.

Thanks all.

Here is my problem with this statement though: Last year, we were able to do the following -

- Make cyberfaces from scratch (For proof, look at PeacemanNots great Ben Simmons)
- Edit/Change team logos
- Edit/Change player portraits
- Edit/Change any player in the game
- Use one texture courts (Reference my classic courts thread in 2k16)
- Edit stadiums

The tools were technically there last year. And this year, promises to be even better (I truly believe this, we can also easily change team names now). The ball is in our court. I am not saying that we can have every single season roster in the history of the NBA/ABA (We cant do the UBR/URB YET). However this is what we can do:

-Fantasy Draft Roster that includes all the hidden players, and maybe a couple that need to be made (Real faces, not through CAP). I am halfway through this, I did another 23 players last night
-A "Ultimate Base" Roster with the best classic teams ever. I am working on this right now, it will not only fill in the classic teams that are in the game (With no FAKES), but it will also add the 08-09 Lakers, 06-07 Nuggets, 10-11 Mavericks, 13-14 Spurs, 14-15 Warrors, 96-97 Rockets, 92-93 Suns, 00-01 or 01-02 Kings (Or both), and we could add even more (If I get Reggie Miller, I can easily add the 94-95 Pacers).
-An all time teams roster (which somebody already completed) with the best players for each franchise on each team.
- Single Season Rosters dating back to the Bobcats debut. We could do an 07-08 Roster easily with a couple cyberface makers to make a few CF's that are missing.

That covers a big portion of the UBR/URB. So all of this is possible. We just need more people invested in it. I felt like I was really the only one pushing hard for retro rosters last year.

That is NOT an insult to the community, I love this place and I think the talent here is top notch. I guess I just think that in year 3 of Next Gen on Steam, that we are primed to make it the best year yet.

By the way, if we're going to make progression with retro rosters this year, we're going to have to use some resoruces from previous mods. Like the UBR, Classic Rosters from 2K14. Or atleast use them for reference, like ratings, court conversions, jersey conversions etc.

I already gained permission for the courts last yeat, which is when I started my classic courts thread. Also, the ratings would need to be redone because the games engine has changed so much. And that's fine, I don't mind putting in the work.

It comes down to help with some of the CFs honestly.

Is there allready a way to edit team names? for example name the 00 01 Lakers 99 00 Lakers because I prefer to play with them (I already added Glen Rice,Fisher etc. to my roster with limnono)

Thats great  (Y) didn't see that thanks

Re: Modding Progress

The only thing REALLY holding us back from adding a lot more classic teams is the ability to add teams to a roster. I can overwrite current teams, but that is not as enticing as a complete roster.

Are people interested in a release of that type? The excitement for retro on 2k14, 13, 12 and 11 was through the roof. By far the most popular threads, I'd like to bring that to NBA 2K17...

Its not like we dont appreciate what you do, hell your one of the most experimental and dedicated guys on this website. I think it just took my alittle to process your post above especially due to the fact that you said all thats missing right now is adding teams which just blows my mind. Its crazy how well were doing this year and your a HUGE part of that man. Appreciate the work man keep up the good stuff (Y)

Okay cool, its mainly because my brother has put in more than 100 hours on portaits over the last 2 years, and he was the one who also wanted me to post on here, and he was a little disappointed with the response. Those who do the portraits (from getty images) know how crazy time consuming it is to put in the work to make them perfect. Him and I together worked on the draft roster/best teams roster this weekend for a total of about 22 hours (between both days).

And yeah, the only REAL missing component is the ability to add teams. I am really crossing my fingers this year, I am not a programmer so I have no idea how I can help with the discovery of the ability to do so. I feel helpless in that regard...

No matter what, we will be finishing these rosters because WE play it... even if we have to replace some of the new teams.

Man, I wish my brother cared as much about modding as I do. Everytime he passes by my screen and sees me editing NBA Live aiact's or creating random players for NBA 2k14, he says "dude, get a life" (or something with similar english translation).

haha, yeah we both get really into it. Our life is playing the game and modding the game. It's exciting because this year we are so ahead of the game (everybody is), look at all that's been release and the game hasn't even been out for two weeks.

We both work full time jobs (and separate shifts sometimes), but we make it work.

This is probably a really bad idea but I'm leaning towards making a 1996-1997 Patch. It could take months though...

That would be amazing. The hard work would be getting all the CF's in. CAP's just don't do It for me. Making the cyberface in blender is a really tough, long process im sure.

I was thinking 07-08 because we would have like 90% of the faces. And it was a great season.

Yeah I won't start unless I know I can edit a roster fully, especially with short lengths, coaches etc. I'm really hoping pandahero will follow through on what he told me.

Obviously 07-08 would be a lot more realistic, I remember someone made one back in NBA 2K15 without any jerseys or courts.

Re: Modding Progress

Tue Sep 27, 2016 7:32 am

Like say we did 07-08. I could do the court converting, you could do a few of the missing cyberfaces, and we could get someone else to work on the jerseys (or do them ourselves). That's how teams are built for this stuff. 07-08 is amazing because it still has a great Kobe, Vince, TMAC, Garnett, Pierce, Dwight, a decent Shaq, Wade, Dirk, Duncan, etc etc.

To add to this, I would also 0ut the roster together itself with accurate ages and ratings.

As far as adding more teams go, with the right tool you might be able to unlock some of the hidden teams and rename those at the very least. For example the college teams are on the base roster just hidden, same goes for the team USA and possibly team Australia too. Most likely just need to flip the correct 0 to a 1.

I'm hoping this is the case with some of the seemingly removed cyberfaces as well.

Re: Modding Progress

Team Australia is available by default, at least in Play Now.

Are there any tutorials out there for creating or editing cyberfaces for this genration of 2K? Its something I"d like to learn and explore.

thank you sir, this works fine!!!
i'm glad the game isn't so sensitive like others i know (wwe 2k...tzzz). resizing textures ain't a problem. and modding is very comfortable with the external plugin.

I really need some of my 2k14 guys on 2k17. Big Hort, Sko, WithAuthority, slimm, and a few others. We really made the most of 2k14. Dee4three, TBM, and PeacemanNot have lead the new wave but we need all the NLSC's finest.

Good news Dee4Three. I found the rebranded jersey files.
The game turns them into textures once you create a jersey.

For me they are in my steam directory/ user data
F:\Steam\userdata\279275216\370240\remote

here is a list of my files
Image

you can open these files 7zip.
everything is saved inside is textures and metadata pertaining to location and size of textures.

Maybe we can figure out how to assign these rebrands to play now teams.

I agree 100%. I think this is the year, the gameplay is a lot tighter, the lighting is better, the game is actually really great this year. It was nice to see RICH also state he was really enjoying the new game. If can get the blender plugin we should be able to hit the ground running. I plan on releasing THREE rosters anyway (Draft/Best Teams/07-08), but I need the talent around me with CF's. We are in year 3 of next gen, and we finally have a product worth going ALL OUT on.

Also, thanks for locating the jersey stuff. Just curious (Hopefully I don't sound like an idiot here), what do you mean by "rebrand", whats included in that.

Also, I wonder if we will be able to breakthrough the rosters this year... in my opinion the only thing needed is the ability to add teams. One thing AWESOME about MyLeague this year: The ability to add new expansion teams but still play 82 games. For example, with my best teams roster, You could do a 36 team season so you didn't leave out some important teams (And you could do this with only a couple duplicates for the WHOLE league, and those duplicates are bench players).

So many possibilities with this game....
