pandahero told me that he's working on an editor that will be capable of editing rosters. Whether or not they'll be able to edit teams, I have no idea and he hasn't responded yet. He said it will be free too.

I'm going to answer this in about 25 minutes. I'll also show screenshots of the portraits.

These are the portraits my brother complete using Paint.Net and GIMP. The ones he DIDN'T do (That were already in the game files) were Cedric Ceballos, Kevin Johnson, Tom Chambers, and Dan Majerle. He did the entire 96-97 Rockets team, as well as the rest of the Suns. Some of these were getty images, which he removed from the photo. He is great at it, he worked on the Suns Barkley for a few hours yesterday. We have completed all the portraits for the 06-07 Nuggets, 08-09 Lakers and 10-11 Mavericks. The ability to clone teams would be HUGE, because we could add all these teams without overwriting the current. We are in the process of filling all the old teams.

You can use Gregs Explorer tool from last year to create your portrait. Find a Portrait that you want to overwrite in OD, import over the DDS in the right pane (See screenshot below, DXT5 with Swizzle selected). Save that file and place in your modded folder. You can than use the Limnono Modifier to import it.

IGNORE THE PLAYERS OVERALL RATINGS: They are not completed.

We spent 15 hours yesterday filling in the classic teams with the correct players/portraits/ratings/tendancies/ssignatures. We watched a ton of video and lived on basketballreference.com. The following cyberfaces are needed in order to truly make this great:

For the 02-03 Mavs/04-05 Maves

- Steve Nash

For 06-07 Nuggets

- Marcus Camby

96-97 Rockets

- Matt Maloney
- Eddie Johnson
- Othella Harrington
- Sedale Threatt

00-01 76ers

-Kevin Ollie

00-01 Kings

- Scot Pollard
- Lawrence Funderburke

And a few more. But that would get us un GREAT SHAPE. The possibilities are endless when we get the blender plugin.

NOTE: We are not releasing ANY of these portraits at this time. We plan on releasing an amazing Roster that includes A LOT of new extra teams, and all the classic teams filled (also not interrupting the euro teams). Its a HUGE project. In the future, I would like to send talented CF editors like PeacemanNot/TBM, or anybody else some good base model/faces to assist in creating the few needed players. For example, I have a great base for Kevin Ollie, he just needs his face.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Modding Progress

will it all depends how good you are at pricing parts. its possble to do a pretty fair system for about 300. and yes you can for keyboard and mouse for less than 100. under fifty 50 was what spent the last time i did that.

Re: Modding Progress

Mon Sep 26, 2016 8:09 am

Looks great! Have you started work on the jerseys or anything yet, or are you just using the base ones from 2K?

BTW, I got someone to get into contact with Limnono and he said that he won't be adding any new features to the tool. I think it's safe to say cloning teams won't be a feature this year, unless someone else can figure it out.

We could always replace some of the European teams, and just edit their names/accessory colours with my tutorial?

Hopefully those screenshots get people pumped up.

You can't replace the European teams and keep it accurate. We tried that last year. When you overwrite those teams, they adhere automatically to the euro rules. So, fouling out is 5 fouls, they have the 5 second closely guarded rule, etc. It doesn't work....

Didn't even know that was a thing. Doesn't look like there is much we can do then.

Was hoping there would be a little more excitement for my project. I'm not looking for kudos or attention at all. Just trying to get people pumped for retro rosters.

Are people interested in a release of that type? The excitement for retro on 2k14, 13, 12 and 11 was through the roof. By far the most popular threads, I'd like to bring that to NBA 2K17...

Dee I think alot of people over the past two years have checked out or given up on Next Gen 2K Editing & Classic Rosters----when people start to see releases, they will be back. Many are like me, unwilling to even play or buy next gen 2K until we have the capabilities you are all trying to give us. So we only can go off the images we see posted on here.

The player editing screen is gorgeous, with the full length player image, what an upgrade from old gen 2k, I'll say that.

Thanks all.

Here is my problem with this statement though: Last year, we were able to do the following -

- Make cyberfaces from scratch (For proof, look at PeacemanNots great Ben Simmons)
- Edit/Change team logos
- Edit/Change player portraits
- Edit/Change any player in the game
- Use one texture courts (Reference my classic courts thread in 2k16)
- Edit stadiums

The tools were technically there last year. And this year, promises to be even better (I truly believe this, we can also easily change team names now). The ball is in our court. I am not saying that we can have every single season roster in the history of the NBA/ABA (We cant do the UBR/URB YET). However this is what we can do:

-Fantasy Draft Roster that includes all the hidden players, and maybe a couple that need to be made (Real faces, not through CAP). I am halfway through this, I did another 23 players last night
-A "Ultimate Base" Roster with the best classic teams ever. I am working on this right now, it will not only fill in the classic teams that are in the game (With no FAKES), but it will also add the 08-09 Lakers, 06-07 Nuggets, 10-11 Mavericks, 13-14 Spurs, 14-15 Warrors, 96-97 Rockets, 92-93 Suns, 00-01 or 01-02 Kings (Or both), and we could add even more (If I get Reggie Miller, I can easily add the 94-95 Pacers).
-An all time teams roster (which somebody already completed) with the best players for each franchise on each team.
- Single Season Rosters dating back to the Bobcats debut. We could do an 07-08 Roster easily with a couple cyberface makers to make a few CF's that are missing.

That covers a big portion of the UBR/URB. So all of this is possible. We just need more people invested in it. I felt like I was really the only one pushing hard for retro rosters last year.

That is NOT an insult to the community, I love this place and I think the talent here is top notch. I guess I just think that in year 3 of Next Gen on Steam, that we are primed to make it the best year yet.

If you want to change accessory colour you can use my tutorial here:
viewtopic.php?f=226&t=102257

Only problem is you can only edit home and away jersey accessory colours and not alternates.

By the way, if we're going to make progression with retro rosters this year, we're going to have to use some resoruces from previous mods. Like the UBR, Classic Rosters from 2K14. Or atleast use them for reference, like ratings, court conversions, jersey conversions etc.
