D43 - Ultimate Classic Team Roster - VERSION 3 RELEASED!

Question for those with eyes on this thread.

I have to finish the 06-07 Wizards, and one last team, followed by the touchups I mentioned. Once that's done, I'll release.

Honestly, hoping for sometime late next week, or at the latest the following week. I want to make sure this is a complete experience, something all of you can really sink your teeth into.

I tried to include a variety of classic teams for you guys. If you noticed, we have new 60's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's teams, which doesn't even include the default classic teams which are filled accurately and touched up a ton. This mod will be compatible with V2 of my all time teams and fantasy draft rosters, so you guys will be able to just have my mods installed, and 2K17 will be transformed into the ultimate retro experience.

I think this works well in 2019, because you guys aren't really interested in outdated 16-17 teams that are in the default roster. So for those people who still want to play 2K19 for the updated current rosters, they can have my mods installed for 2K17 for all the classic teams, and just total retro experience.

I also watch the view count of this thread, and there are still a lot of people who are lurking, and that makes me feel motivated. It's nice to see that people will genuinely get enjoyment out of this mod.

Just realised my previous post, while complimentary, wasn't exactly useful as a suggestion!

You might want to consider making it an optional add-on in the package. I remember when we put together the NBA Live PC Project for NBA Live 06, not everyone was a fan of the new background art, so I left it as an optional add-on. Comparing the two, I think your menu update is much more attractive and would be a bigger hit than the one that was made for the PC Project (with all due respect to the contributor who made it), and it would freshen up the game nicely, but some people would probably just like to have the roster without the frontend revamp.

Anyway, it's just a thought based on a similar situation from a while back. At the very least I'd suggest including it in the package so that people can go ahead and install it as well, if they so choose.

I think this is what I will do, I will release it with this background included, and monitor the feedback on it. Also, I'll explain on the video Im going to make how to remove it if they want.

I agree with TGsoGood, making the mod feel fresh, like you are playing a remastered version of the game, is incredibly rewarding to the user. It's not just in the menus, or edit player etc either, it's the gameplay as well. You guys will notice a major difference in gameplay, including the players feeling lighter, less brick wall defense, better pace, etc. I will be including an optional slider set with this mod. I have had a lot of compliments on my youtube videos about the pace of the game, how fun it looked to play, and I want users to have that experience.

No problem.

And no, but you can fix it when the roster is released, takes two seconds. I agree that he is not 6'9", but for the official release I'm going to stick to the official height listing on basketball reference and other sources.

But yeah, he is closer to 7'0".

When I'm done the 06-07 Wizards, I may make a preview video (pump up video) for the roster. Similar to a Shady type video, I'll put it to music and whatnot.

Probably overkill for a game like 2K17 which is almost 3 years out from it's original development cycle, but thought it may be cool to do.

Some other really neat things I think you guys will love.

The scoreboard that will be released with the mod is the NBA on TNT 2003 scoreboard made by Sticky-Fingers. It looks absolutely perfect IMO, and with the game having a TNT vibe as it is, it just fits. Because of this, I created a NBA on TNT watermark for the bottom left hand corner of the screen, and a NBA on TNT wipe. Take a look.




Also, some other accuracy things. I've put in older/younger versions of players in order to give the roster more authenticity, some examples below. These were done either via conversions from 2K18, conversions from 2K18 with my tweaks, or just tweaks by me. The original authors of the conversions will be in the credits. The 09-10 Kobe was tweaked by Trevor and it looks AMAZING.

There are many other examples of this in the roster, but just wanted to give you an idea. For example, both Amare and Nash for 09-10 look accurate and different from 04-05, Iguodala looks different on the 05-06 76ers than he does on the Warriors, Durant looks different in 11-12 than 15-16, etc.

I'll be thinning out his neck, shoulders and arms, just making him overall look thinner and cut. Right now he looks like Uncle Fester from the Addams Family... lol

Last night I made Ralph Sampson more accurate, and did a couple other things. I'll be adding short 3D hair to the 09-10 Bynum, cleaning up his goatee, and making his skin look a tad younger (Smooth him out).

Before the game when the game is loading

My favorite presentation for 2K might be 2K14 on this gen. I changed the menus to the same color/pattern from 2K14, what do you think? I literally took the pattern and color from the 2K14 actual background.




FYI - Im still finishing the last two teams, I just needed a break to do something else for a couple days.
